Tom I need some help and advise please. I'm leaking or losing fluid for somewhere. I don't see it in the water behind the boat and there is none inside the bilge. Is it possible to be losing it while the boat is up on plane and the water pressure on the tabs? I'm coming out of the water in two weeks and I have the O ring kits you set me months ago so I plan on rebuilding the actuators then.

Also where do I find a filler cap? Mine is starting to tear around its edges?

Dwna1a,

It is possible for the actuators to leak when they are under pressure. You would notice that you have to readjust the Trim Tabs often if this was the case.

How old is the system? Are you checking the fluid level with the Trim Tabs in the full up position? And how often are you having to add fluid?

By filler cap do you mean the one that screws to a quart bottle of ATF to make filling easier?

Or do you mean the plug for the reservoir?

let me know which one you need, and send me your name and address in a PM and we will send you what you need, no charge.

Tom I do notice the helm side needs to be adjusted once or twice while running at 2800 rpm.
the system is from 1988 and I'm talking about the little rubber plug. I alway check with the tabs in the full up and I'm adding about one small container each month.

Send me your name and address in a private message and we will send you a new plug for the reservoir, no charge.

To test put both Trim Tabs all the way down and leave them there overnight. If one or both come up by themselves it's a sure sign of a leak.

Even if they stay down, I think it's a good idea to change the O-rings in the actuators.
