Tohatsu Reviews

I guess as long as it starts each time that is good enough for me. I have heard also it is best to run the carb dry before storing for an extended period of time (my dealer said anything more than 2-3 days) so if I run it dry then it will either take time for the bowl to fill or it will take some pulls to get the gas back in the bowl.

I ran the new 6hp Tohatsu this weekend for the first time after break in period. Once warmed up it ran great, restarts on first pull. It gets my 9ft air floor dingy on plane with myself and my 2 young daughters on board. (About 300 lbs). Great little motor. It is still small enough I can get it into the engine compartment for storage no problem.

I just bought a 9.8 HP. I got a hour and ten minute instruction and familiarization form the dealer. I have used it 4 times since. Break in period is done. My 10' Zodiac flies. My dealer said ignore the line on the throttle that says start. Throttle a little past restart. Mine starts on the second or third pull.
