Booked flights for China, yesterday, leave on Monday for a 10 day business trip. Driving to work yesterday morning, with all the smoke from the bushfires, thought I was already there! No visibility.

Anyway, the admiral was up for a run on the boat and told the daughter she had to take a break from study and join us. We ended up leaving later than we first intended to, and went out for dinner on the boat.

Nice pics Ian, water looks good and your dog is really enjoying it Sorry to hear about the fires, we even saw pics of them on the news here so they must be bad, as half the time we don't hear what's going on in the rest of the US! Hope they manage to put 'em out soon and before we get there shortly

It's pretty bad though, still Spring and we are getting 34-38 with high winds, the wind was hitting 110km/h when the fires started. There are over 100 homes gone and unfortunately 1 life.

We live in a high bushfire area, so always on our mind. We live directly across the road from a very deep valley, the last fire we had here, the bushfire brigade just ran out and left their trucks parked.

After the fires one of the neighbours was thanking the chief for saving our houses. The chief looked at him and said "mate we weren't here to save your houses, did you see that fire? We were here to mop up!"

Anyway we have our evacuation plan, the boat.

Good luck on your trip to China. Thanks for sharing the pics with us. It's always nice to see what boating looks like in other areas.

Good luck also to all OZ residents with respect to the fires.
