Tips and tricks

Great idea and I’ve wanted to do this since I saw an older post from JVM225 but didn’t know how I would do it on the boat. Looks like you solved that but how long did you have to let the paint dry before moving on to next section.

Thanks,
Rob

I just dropped anchor in the slip paint 25ft at a time let it dry while I am doing other projects and then let more out and repete.

More of a life (rather than boating) skill.

For everyday wear, always buy the same socks. That way you can put them in a pile and not have to worry about matching them up.
I go by the rule - "Above 26°F - No socks, boat shoes". Works year around for me - almost!

To access the transom and rear of the motor on my 240 Sundeck, I use 2 boards from an old entertainment center. 5’ long, 20” wide and covered with the fake wood grain paper. A small milk crate On the deck floor helps too. Lay on the top board and pull yourself in.

Easy access for the distributor cap and even the water inlet through the transom. By the way, mine just passed it’s yearly inspection. No signs of Bravoitis........yet.

When using small gasoline powered yard tools, outboard engines, portable generators, or really anything with an engine; Always run them out of gas before storing. For outboards, you can pull the fuel line and press in on the vent plunger to allow the remaining gas in the carb to be consumed. This prevents varnish buildup in the carb.

If you need to siphon gas or other liquids out of a container, rather than suck on the hose to start the flow try this method. It works.

Put the hose you would normally use to siphon into the container. Use another hose and put it into the container. Use your hand or towel or something to block air flow out of the container. Blow hard into the second hose. That creates a positive air pressure inside the container which forces gas out of the container through your first hose. No muss, no fuss.

I spent as summer on Uncle's wheat farm in Quincy WA and got real good at running the syphon tubes to water the fields... Thumb over the end of the tube gapped on the downstroke into the water and thumb pushed tight on the upstroke...

Thats a shaker syphon. Keep on boat at all times. If you take on any water just shake and stick in. Has a ball that rattles and sucks out water. Same if you are gassing up from a 5 gal tank

Buy a bimini for a small boston whaler center console. ( aprox 3 ft wide by 5 ft long ) Add 2- 5ft aluminum extensions on the main pole. With 2 bimini supports at the back. Get to spend a ton more time on the water when me and the wife are kicking around the back islands of the florida keys. Build 2 of these for our skiis. Can be put down and in a boot if wanting sun. Or taken off by just unscrewing. If it ever flips and need to up right easy enough to unscrew and re install.
