our outdrive won't go up..it will go down though. does anyone think it could be as simple as a solenoid replacement or more than just that? btw....it makes 1 click sound when the button is pressed for up and motors down fine (when it was put in back on memorial day). fluid is full and outdrive oil was changed on memorial day before dropping in....

Fluid full?

You could try jumping 12v at the pump. Blue wire = up, green wire = down.

Another possibility: trim cylinder needs to be rebuilt.

I'd highly doubt the problem is with the drive itself, but you could take off the trim cylinders and lift the drive by hand to verify - put a jack under it to help hold it.

sounds ez...will try and let you know! thanks!

Check the connection at the plug on the trim pump.

Mine was doing the same thing when i got it and just wiggling the plug let me know i had a bad connection.

Will it go up when using the trailering up switch?

Does your trailer switch work? My drive would go up if I used the trailer switch, but not if I hit the regular up trim button. It was (still is) a bad trim limit sensor. I found the connector on the engine harness, and just removed the sensor and plugged the 2 leads together (2 seperate wires, 1 has a female connector, the other a male).

I am not even sure if I am going to replace it. I calibrated the trim in Smartcraft and everything works as it should. Up trim works until where it should stop, and then the trailer button takes it the rest of the way up. I have no idea why they even bothered to put a limit switch on there given that everything works as intended without one.

yep! there is fluid in the reservoir but the trailer up button doesn't work either. there aren't any wires loose everything is really tight. i have discovered some other issue that may be the cause...when the switch is on "all" batteries the alarm goes off on the dash. when it is on battery 1 it's fine. i'm wondering if battery 2 needs to be charged and that's maybe what the tilt/trim is running off of. maybe this is the problem and not the actual tilt/trim. may have to charge it and go from there.

Tilt/trim should run off of either battery. But since it's an older boat it's tough to speculate since it could have been wired wrong by a previous owner - unless your the original?

You're saying it goes up and down correctly on #1 and both? But not on #2?

Any other problems when on #2 only? Starting?

Try switching the battery cables.

it certainly was the tilt/trim selonoid ....switched it out and went right up! thanks everyone!

fixed it! solenoid...simple just a little difficult to get to but still enjoying the season!....btw...yep your feet ...10 toes up..10 toes down!
