Anyone installed the corsa through hull exhaust? I have a 2007 220 Sundeck and would love to add this system to my boat.

I have the Corsa through hull system and in my opinion, it would not be worth the trouble to install it after the fact at great expense. I am bracing myself for the barrage of rotten tomatoes headed my way.

Waxing philosophical, like many things in life, the idea of the Corsa is better than the reality.

Yes, it is fun to get everyone at the dockside restaurant to turn their head if you start you boat with the exhaust open, and yes, it is kind of fun to open the exhaust when you are racing past someone. But, the fun ends there. And those things are fun like 5 times each, max. Cruising with the exhaust open gets old real fast.

I do not believe there is a perfomance difference with the exhaust open vs. closed.

Sooo, save the $2k. That is like 400 gallons of gas or like 40 bottles of Patron Silver. Or like 200 gallons of gas and 20 bottles of Parton Silver. Think of the joy factor to those precious liquids over merely altering the pipe through which your carbon emissons enter the atmosphere.

On the other hand if you really want it, go for it.

You pretty much nailed it. But people do it anyway. I did, it was even with the original 7.4 MPI (it was modified at the same time) and other than sound, it didn't do anything.

The newer BIII's with the open bellow will flow fine up to about 400HP so any stock motor will be fine without it. Even 496HO's will run fine but Merc puts it on them anyway. Otherwise someone might find out that the 425HP is really only about 380HP :smt043 and within 20HP or so of a non HO. :wow: Marketting people, you gotta love'm.

Even with my current motor, most of our use is < 400HP anyway, but mine stay open most of the time. I'm sure I get cussed, 'cause this one really is loud.

Merc put it on 502's and 496 mags to reduce EGT's at WOT.

When it is closed, it is only slightly louder than a stock exhaust but I doubt most boats around you could tell the difference.

Annoying...sorry.

There isnt one person I know (even caught on videotape when a loud boat went past us) who enjoys an open exhaust on a boat. Been in a few raft ups and cruising around when such a boat went by, and every says he same thing..."uuugh"

Loud, annoying, and completely unneeded except to stroke one's ego for whatever reason that I cant fathom.

If I had it I would use it everytime I started the boat. I love to hear the motor when I have the muffs on her in the drive way. But I wouldn't pay to have it added. I would rather use the money on an upgraded sound system then I could play a recording of the motor while I had shots of Patron Silver.

I added it. Love it. Would do it again. Don't let anyone decide for you if it is a good idea or not.

Most say it adds nothing (performance-wise) to a small block engine. I added 2mph to my top end. I was not intending nor expecting a performance increase, but I indeed got one.

I did it all for the sound. Just as one would put loud exhaust on a muscle car, I put it on my 350 mag. A very large chunk of my boat purchase went towards my engine... I want to hear it.

I tend to turn it off when in close quarters with other people and boats, but otherwise keep it on all of the time.

Kinda like a rubber doll named Ginger tied to your boat :smt101

There are lots of boats on Lake Michigan that run open exhaust since it is such a large body of water. If I was on a small body of water or a river, I could understand why you would not like it.

Got it cause I like the sound. We don't use it that much, but it's nice to have. No ego or attempts to impress, as I don't much give a s#!t what anybody thinks of me or what I have.

I love to wake up in my condo to the sound of a boat idling out with the Corsa open, it reminds me I'm at the lake:thumbsup:.

I have it...and it does get tired real fast...Anytime I open em up my guests bitch at me to turn it off...When Im alone and I open em up, I bitch at me to turn em off...It does sound nice but I got tired of it..

Great comparison:wow:

An inflatable doll vs. an incredibly loud motor.

PS...I love that someone took rep points from me for an opinion...whoever you are: jackarse.

I rarely open the exhaust on my 502, but I do love the sound of open exhaust through EMI headers. I don't open it for anyone's enjoyment, but mine. And, I am cognizant of who is around me before doing it.

Well, you asked for it. The OP asked a question about installing it. You offered your derogatory comments implying it has something to do with ego's and stroking....

Bravo. The comparison is still not correct
