This Would Sure Wipe Out A Prop...

Well done Coasties!

Might want to re-read the article, seems a fishing vessel found the dock when the CG could not.

As I, and others read it, a fishing vessel spotted it adrift (they did not find and tag it for retrieval) in the Pacific ocean on Friday. The USCG would not be searching for it until it was reported to them. That's how they work, the USCG receive radio distress calls about many varid operations and sightings which they then deploy upon and search for. No doubt the fishing vessel radio reported it to the USCG who sent their helicopters to search for it and they were searching from the time the fishing vessel reported its sighting. The Pacific ocean is a big area, and an object such as this would soon move off course in rough weather. The USCG finally found it the following Tuesday near the coast line of the Olympic National Park, in WA (not adrift in the ocean now) tagged it and arranged for it to be secured. Fishing vessels etc., generally only report sightings of such to the USCG. If you read the article, the WA state Governor Christine Gregoire, thanked the Coast Guard for finding the dock (which would be after the fishing vessel's reported sighting to the USCG), she didn't thank the fishing vessel for a radio call to the USCG. Furthermore, the governor thanked them for going out in bad weather for about 4 days searching for it! As she stated "looking for a needle in a haystack". Well done Coasties!
