I love being a boater. I would much rather spend my free time on board, tinkering, cleaning, fixing and just being around my fellow dockmates. If it wasn't for work...well you know.

Anyway, there are still other things that have to be done. With the weather we've been having, I admit I'm a bit behind on the outdoor chores that have unfortunately caught up with me. So instead of going to the boat this morning, I'm headed out to weed-whack the berm, beside the garage and wherever else. Ya it has caught up with me.

It's going to hit 94 F here in the Okanagan today, 99 tomorrow. And there's no end in sight, so I better get at it!

Man you need a teenager how is hard up for money do do those chores for you  My daughter was weeding and spreading wood chips for me this morning while we are sitting on the boat in the rain..

Yeah I can relate. Hot temps here and only a waverunner. I spent the morning doing some deck staining and tree trimming since I'm waiting on delivery..

Mark,,,,, wait !!!!!! :wow: You have to re evaluate everything. :smt017

We haven't seen rain in weeks, we're in the middle of a heat wave, and everything around us is tinder dry. Weed eating, housework, home maintenance, and gardening are now officially viewed as "fire hazards". The only official Okanagan activity that insures the safety of our forests is sitting in one's boat, with that beautiful north breeze blowing across the beam, with your favorite musical stimulant playing softly in the background, your favorite adult liquid stimulant (chilled to slightly above freezing) within arm's reach, and enough water under your keel to accommodate numerous quick dives into the cool refreshing lake water. Please, do your part to prevent forest fires and stop engaging in these hazardous summer activities. And besides, all that stuff dies off in the winter anyway.:smt043 (North wind = Kalamore Park anchorage?) May see ya there?

Thanks guys! I figured a few were in the same"boat"!

As as to the teenager thing, kids are long past that. I just wish we had one or two in our neighbourhood even!

Chris....just may see ya there! I just finished outside with lots left to do. The heck with it, I'm hiring somebody. We're heading down for around 1. Might see ya on the lake this afternoon!

We've missed a lot of water time this year 15 years ago we downsized from 2 acres to 1/3 acre after taking care of 9 large flower gardens we are completely re-landscaping all of them to low maintenance shrubs that will mostly block all weeds with commercial grade weed block material & a few inches of beauty bark. We're about 1/3 finished now the heat wave hits, I've already rented a Bobcat and hauled away over 7 yards of plants, weeds and old compost piles what hasn't been finished is covered with 6 mil black plastic to kill anything left in those gardens waiting till fall to finish it up. It's 1:30pm here already 90* F with no end in sight. Guess we'll be out on the water or sitting in a nice cool house.
We do have a 14 year old boy next door we have had him working for a couple weeks hard worker too.

Just got my lawn care professional back from a month long vacation in NC. Now I can take some time to catch up on "important" boat stuff. Rebuilt my hitch brake assembly and painted the trailer these last couple days.

Mark, we're enjoying the same weather you are except add about 10* to your temps. As I type this we're sitting in our room at The Davenport hotel in Spokane. We're heading out tomorrow a.m. to spend 3 days boating on Lake Pend Orielle and Lake Coeur d'Alene with our Whaler. I finally decided to hire a lawn boy to take care of all those fire hazard duties so we could be free to do things like this. The only problem I see with my plan is I'm not my second margarita with 1800 tequila and Cuervo mix and it's getting harder and harder to type without hitting all those damn extra keys. I have having to backspace to fix these stupid typos.

Hey GFC, you know the betting season is over and you can change your avatar now. :smt043:smt043

Sorry, I'm still stinging from wearing that thing for 2 months. :smt089

Believe me, I can TOTALLY realate! Its always something, but thats owning a house. Now, the Admiral is wanting to downsize, well, we have long talked about doing this when the kids head off to college, but I guess she has decided the time to start getting the house ready is soon. Of course that will mean I will to get busy around here and do all the things I could live with that others will find intolerable and want to use it as leverage in price negotiations...... Oh heck, I’m packing the truck and headed up to the marina, I think I forgot something I really need to get!!! :)))))

What Chu Mean Bro? The season is just about to start so that magnificent bird is staying right where it belongs. Oh, and it will look great as your avatar this season.

Don't spend the best part of your life doing minimum wage work...

Couldn't agree more. I haven't mowed my lawn since I moved out at 18. My time is valuable and is worth more to me than the small fee a landscaper charges. Plus I just hate yard work!

Don't get me wrong guys, I have a guy who cuts my lawn! Does a great job too. But he doesn't do the weed pulling and stuff in the rock beds around the house and on the corner berm.

So I will get my other lawn company to do that! Turned out I had some heat exhaustion yesterday and ended up having to come home from the boat! Shouldn't be outside working in 100 degree weather. That's the temp from yesterday.
