The story behind your boat's name

LADY LITERASEA

My other half created, named, and executive produced PBS 's READING RAINBOW for all of it's 26 years. Few others have had the situational priviledge of positively influencing so many young people's reading habits, so the name is my attempt to honor her accomplishment.

The boat is about to be documented to this name as we are just getting around to changing the name.

My boat’s names have always been song titles.

This started with a boat that was already named Dirty Deeds... not exactly my style, but I didn’t own it long.

I’ve had boats named Gilded Splinters, Soulshine and currently Feelin’ Alright.

I have a small, insane project speed boat that will be called Stone Cold Fever if I ever finish it.

This has become contagious among my boating friends and dock neighbors with theirs being Good Vibrations, Slow Ride, Here Comes The Sun and Whole Lotta Rosie to name a few.

‘PARIS’ The Admiral and I spent our honeymoon in this amazing city, and since then it has become one of our favourite places in the world having been back many times since. It became like a second home, and was/is our happy place. With the birth of our son, we decided to put our world travels on hold for a bit and got into boating. This being our second boat that we now vacation on, Paris just seemed like a natural fit. Even though we’re not going abroad so much as of late, we still will always have Paris.

Have a friend who named his boat 'Good Vibrations', a rather stogey couple asked him how he came up with the name - he told them one of his businesses made vibrators (for ladies). Of course he doesn't, he just wanted to raise their eyebrows.

We did a major facelift on “Beach Inn” in September (kids named her that) we never really liked it and since they’re not on the boat much anymore we’re renaming her “MOJO”
Our initials. To go with her good looks now.

That’s great!

For similar reasons I plan to name my next dinghy Shoregasm.

:)

Our boats name: On Second Thought...

My wife and I always wanted a big boat but a few years ago we talked ourselves out of it. So impractical, waste of money, blah blah blah. One day in the summer of 2017, we were contemplating Our 1st year of retirement and big boat discussion came up again. She’s ours now. YOLO

Our last boat named: "SolAna" Sol which is Spanish for Sun and Ana (my first name). We are currently in the middle of purchasing a 2006 Sea Ray 45 foot Sedan Bridge and so far don't have a solid name yet. But the Captain kinda likes "Scuttlebutt" I like "Salty Kisses" for its obvious meaning.

My fathers boat was called Imerus (Him-Her-Us), it's a bit corny but we loved it and so called our boat ImerusToo (literally) in his honour.

Ours is actually a bit controversial. We have three daughters so we named our boat 'Three Sisters' in reference to the supposed 'rogue wave' action which occurs in the Great Lakes. I'm not sure if it is referred to similarly on the oceans. Some have told me that it is ominous or even bad luck to name a boat 'Three Sisters'. I'm not superstitious. I find that most trouble happens when you are not prepared or make irresponsible decisions. Of course, anything can happen to the most seasoned captain, but I don't think a boat name is any cause for concern.

Getting it made as we speak The definition prerogative just seemed fitting
1.
a right or privilege exclusive to a particular individual or class.
"owning an automobile was still the prerogative of the rich"
synonyms: entitlement, right, privilege, advantage, due, birthright
"it's my prerogative to hold on to the farm"
