The story behind your boat's name

Another Buffett reference: Our first "real" boat was a Stingray 180 something and we had many great times on it while our boys were still little. We just called it Ray although it wasn't officially named. When we bought our Sea Ray, we decided to stick with the Ray thing but being Parrotheads, we had to have it reference Jimmy somewhere in there. Buffett's personal secretary is guy and his name is Ramos so we just added the Y and named it Raymos. Satisfies both criteria. "Ramos, where's the hidden track?"

Good thread... I like the stories...
Our last boat ('Joe Fabulous' named after my son Joey) was a black '06 240 DA.
When it sold, everyone was asking why we got rid of 'the black Sea Ray'.
'Back in Black' fit perfectly cuz' that's what we did... bought another black DA
... and we're AC/DC fans too.

When we bought our current boat it was, and still is, Pretender. It wasn't too offensive so we kept it and my Moher-in-law says its because we are pretending to afford it. Thinking she may be right we named the dinghy "Realist."

Now that Pretender is for sale and we are looking for the next one we have been thinking of names. We really like "Pau Hana" which is Hawaiian for "quitting time."

I have been a heavy equipment mechanic for many years until I became a manager then worked my way up to the corporate job I now have. I'm the Maytag repairman for our dealer network. All day long a help analyze electronic and computer malfunctions as our units have 4-6 computers in each truck.

I'm so surprised that everyone goes to the computer when something malfunctions. More times than not it's a mechanical or wiring problem that can be easily fixed.

When I buy a project vehicle I try to find the lowest tech thing I can. It's easy to work on and the principles of fuel, air, and ignition generally work.

Old Skool is the epitome of what I am and love.

"Shady Money" Is the name of my boat It fits perfect I am in the glass tinting buisness in the South, I sell shade...

"Long Overdue" got her name in a hurry. I had to come up with a name for documintation. My dad's Jefferson and other boats were named "Long's Lady". I also wanted to be able to use our last name as well. Since I was raised on Sea Ray cruisers and after a string of little boats it was time for my first big Sea Ray. Hence the name Long Overdue.

As the only male in a home with 3 women the boat is naturally my escape from rampant PMS hence the boat name is "PMScape".

Actually my good natured wife came up with the name.

I sold my 22' walk around and my custom Harley to buy a bigger boat for my one and only 1 year old. I told her it was her birthday present (i don't think she believed me). I wanted to use her name of some sort (Addison) and this is what I came up with. The boat had a terrible name so I did go through the "ritual" and poured a few hundred $$$$ of Champagne into the bay for the gods to drink.

I’m in the same boat… after the birth of my 2nd daughter a friend said my life will be like a hockey game..3 periods and a lot of fights.

They say a boat is a hole in the water and since my last name is Fox we named it Foxhole.

PLAYPEN II

Playpen started out as a summerhome in the mountains of Pennsylvania close to Seven Springs Ski Resort. The boat came along and it was fitting to name it PLAYPEN II. Kids sitting in their playpens with all the toys having a blast.

My previous boat was "Our Pearl". It's meaning was threefold.

We had just taken two Alaskan cruises on the NCL lines ship named "The Pearl"

The boat was pearl in color

Instead of buying actual pearls, this was our pearl.

Most people assumed it was a spin off the Black Pearl from the Disney Pirate movie, but that really wasn't it, but it could have worked for that too I guess.

Now I am really stumped on what to name the 280 dancer we just bought. It is blue, and we are taking a cruise on a ship named Sky, so I thought of Blue Sky, or Blue Skies. But that's all I got, and I think I can do better!

The name of our boat "FOOLISHNESS" has a bit of a story behind it.

My wife lost her mother a couple of years back. She was not a woman who ever really saw the need for glitzy, expensive things that you only enjoyed a couple of months out of the year. She was born in a time of the Great Depression so to say that she was frugal and spend thrifty is an under statement.

She always looked for the best deal and never splurged on enjoyable things. She always said that those types of things "were nothing but foolishness"

When we bought the boat this summer, with the enthusiastic help of my father in law by the way, we decided to name it
"FOOLISHNESS" because that is what my dear departed mother in law would have said it was. So it's a kind of dedication and rememberance to her.

Hoser Baby

It was a nickname I gave my wife when we were first married.

I was a huge fan of the movie "Strange Brew" and called everyone "hoser" for a time.

Suffice it to say, we always get asked about our boat name.

The guy in the slip by me is a horse breeder, just loves equine. He named his boat Hoof Hearted. Try hailing that one on the VHF. I did think it was pretty original though!

"NO PATIENTS"
I'm a paramedic in Canada. I work 4 days on, 6 days off. My friends tell me that I'm really have no patience... So it's a perfect fit.
