As we head into fall. Some of the best weather at the lake. This was last weekend. Air temp in the 80s water temp holding at 84. Lake level 3530.
I agree the weather last weekend was spectacular. Labor Day weekend was oppressively hot and humid and weekend of the 9th we had Hurricane Kay. I’m guessing we have good conditions on the left coast for boating into early December. Here is the Admiral on the bow this past weekend in Avalon harbor.
Absolutely beautiful there. Supposed to be in the low 70s Saturday and 50s at night, we plan to anchor out.
Fall boating.... Emptied out the fridges and freezer yesterday. Hoping to get it out for a short run around the north end of the lake in the next few days and that's it. Getting it hauled out next Wednesday.
You got that right. I just got mine hauled for a repair but it’s going right back in for many weeks left. Why pay $300 haul fee just to use 6-8 more weeks? Because the trees won’t change for another month. Best yet to come. That was last October, not now.
I can't either..... Oh well..... There are a bunch of boats already shrink wrapped. Rack storage is done on the 30th. You better be winterized and all before then. It's not heated.
Summer in northern Illinois ends today with 77 and sunny, fall comes tomorrow with a high of 62 and north winds at 17.
Wife tells me when she no longer needs the sinks, then I drain the fresh water system. Then she tells me when she don’t need toilet. Then I drain the toilet system. Usually I good for 2-3 weeks after that decision it’s haul out. Marina includes engine outdrive winterize as part of haulout blocking. Then about a month or so later, my zodiac and motor comes home. I rent a uhaul van for an hour, bring home and put in house. Then I become a miserable old man for 3-4 months.
We have to be out of the slip by Nov 1, so there gies the 300 DA But God-willing I am running the dink 'til I see icebergs
Ha, I still have thinned blood from Florida. Anything below 70° is starting to get uncomfortable for me. I keep the house at 78° during the summer.
