I live in Oz and must say have had limited knowledge on the water ingestion problem that exists with 310 DA's. Boy have I learn't quickly what it can mean!!

I imported a 2000 310 DA from Florida two years ago and have two ingestion events with the starboard motor since I have had it. The boat is equipped with raw water cooled 350 MAG MPI's. The second event has just occured and the motor is completely ceased. I am not happy as communications with Searay when I first bought it indicated it had been modified to correct the problem.

When it occured the first time I had dry joint risers fitted. Doesn't seem to have made any difference. Can anyone please tell me what the "exhaust modifications" that people refer actually are? I'm getting desparate and don't want to go through all the expense to find out it could happen again.

The bottom line is the exhaust has to be higher. Taller riser blocks or go into a larger muffler before going out the transom. Probablty need taller riser blocks.

In my 2000 310, they have large pots in the exhaust system that were added at a later time due to the ingestion issue. Should not make a difference but my boat is FWC not raw water cooled.
