The official pre-clinton era sr sport cruiser thread

Lets not get him started on the swim platform! We had this discussion earlier:lol::lol: By the way NorCal right where you have those 2 pics hanging behind the dinette was my thought on where to mount the TV. Your Dancer has that cabinet there, my EC does not. That way you could watch in the dinette, cockpit(some) and swivel it out for in bed. My other thought was in the dinette above the fridge. Then I would have to run the wires and it would be firm mount. Also wouldn't be bolt through because of head on the backside. Who am I kidding? TV, I haven't buffed, bottom painted, tuned engines, rebuilt carbs, etc.. yet. I'll be lucky to see TV this summer. Right now waiting on garage to warm up so I can turn off heat and do some fiberglassing on the transom door that is still im my garage!

Norcal, that grill post mount hidden under the swim ladder cover on the swim platform is very nice. Where do you store the grill and its post when you're underway?

I cannot take credit for the mount location. I got that from Todd (Nehelania) but the post is easy. It stores anywhere. The grill has a storage bag and we only take it if we know we are going to anchor out otherwise it stays home. When we do take it we stow it under our cockpit table.

I have the same platform and grille but I don't have the post:smt089 All I have is an offset mount that goes in a rod holder at the center of the stern.

NorCal...can I get that post from Swim Platforms?

Norcal - that looks sweet! And to think - I was proud of my re-fit. Now i feel inadaquite. My swim platform is original and everything....:smt089

Thank you BC. We have really worked hard to make her look better but do not feel inadequate. There has been some comments on this board dissing my do-it-yourself endeavours.

You know, that is what this board is all about. You do the best you can. You get ideas and advise from others and make your boat the way you want. I have gotten some great ideas from pictures I have seen here.

Wiley, don't worry about watching TV. We do not have an antenna. We get movies from Netflix and take them to the boat to watch. We have never watched a whole movie....we always fall asleep.

Do you really need a big antenna? I figured that on the water you could pick up something with a small antenna near the TV. Did your bride do all the recoverings? I was looking at replacing the curtain and the small covers on the side windows. You haven't done anything to the side walls or other coverings have you? I have the same pinkish mess.

We don't even have an antenna. Sometimes at our marina's guest dock I will hook up the the free cable. We just don't watch that much TV. There is always friends to visit with, dogs to walk, brain cells to kill....

My wife did the sewing. We used the old fabric for patterns and did the layout together. I do most of the installing. Buy a glue gun and most importantly, an electric stapler.

No, we have not changed any wall coverings. We've thought about it but the stuff is in really good shape. We bought the boat 3 years ago this month. There were only 440 hours on the engines and everything was in good shape but UGLY. I think the next interior project will be carpet but that is going to have to wait. I want new instrument panels and new gauges.

L&L is right on. That is the base and post we have. When Scott made our swim platform he gave us a couple of tables to try out. He said they were thinking of offering them for sale. Anyway, we have the same base and post for our cockpit table which is cool because we can mount it on the platform as well. Makes a great place to put out snacks or set up the blender.

And no, I do not get a commission.

Now Ron, quit it! You know what I keep noticing about those platforms is they look like a tail, like they stick up in the back. I know everyone says it's an illusion, but looks like it would be climbing up the hill to get in the water.

They really are level.

Thanks for the link NorCal - it is nice to see what it would look like on MY boat, not just a similar one like yours. My problem is not deciding that the new platform would be nice or look good, but mustering up the 3 B.U's to fix something that ain't broke!

Oh - about the TV antenna - my tv does not get good reception in the cabin, so I ran a coax antenna cable to the dash, when i am watchin TV I just go out there and hook up the rabbit ears. Sure, it looks pretty redneck, but I don't have to look at it, I'm busy watchin TV!

For me, the platform was a no brainer. I almost fell off the old one several times, my dogs did fall off several times. We didn't even use it to get into the boat. We went over the side. Mine was in perfect shape as well but I got a killer deal and now that I have it I can't imagine ever going back to a boat without a large platform.

Sprink, you've had your new boat for what, 2 weeks? What is your opinion? And if your is a Swim Platforms, Inc. one for the 390, that thing is really huge.

It is a "swim Platforms,Inc and yes...it's big. I can set 2 lawn chairs on it and have plenty of room to spare.

I looked at a 340 and remember the tap dance i had to do just to turn around on the OEM platform. The large platform on my boat is one of the features that helped sell me on this particular boat.

The only issue I am having is that the rubber strap that holds the swim ladder underneath in the traveling position broke and I need to get another. I expect that I can order this from the factory...I'll check it out. Meanwhile I guess I'll put a zip tie on it to hold it in place.

Call Scott Samuelson at SWI and you will be well taken care of. Scott really understands "customer service." If you want, tell him you have been talking to Shawn Murphy. My 340 was originally his. He bought it new when he worked for Sea Ray.

Shawn,

Thanks for the heads up..I'll give Scott a call next week.

Hey guys!
I must have been sleeping when this thread started.
I've got a little bit of 'curved glass', but not much as you can see.
Picked up 'Dancing' as a repo 3 years ago.
Have spent the last two winters indoor heated storage.

PO wasn't too good at maintaining the exterior, but he had redone the interior fabrics to off white leatherette.
Easy on the eyes and easy to keep clean.

This season I plan on removing the carpeting and installing Amtico Flooring or something similar.

I too added a mount on my swim platform for my grill. (Thanks Todd for the idea!)
Because I have IO's storage for the grill is a no brainer.
It gets bungeed to the storage crates I have mounted to the forward bulkhead and the post fits right next to it. Pictures to come.

Last winter I installed LED light on the bottom of the swim platform.
Very nice at night. Have had lots of comments on them. Cruising into the marina at night with them on usually gets lots of responses.

Auto Tab Controls and a GPS were installed the previous winter.

Next I want to mount my LCD TV in this position. I have the brackets and all the wiring in place or nearby. Just have to pull the plug and start drilling.

Just want the winter to end here so I can get the shrink wrap off and get started on these projects.

Sprink, regarding the antenna set-up. Last season I added the guv'ment issued digital box to my system and just using standard glomax I went from 4 sh**ty stations to over 60.
Added boxes to a few of my friend boats down here in Hammond with the same results.
Seems the Glomax really loves the digital signals.
