Hi All,
Asking for a friend to make sure it's done right. Where is the official name change ceremony thread with the steps in the process? I found a lot, but maybe we need a stickey!

Follow the procedure. Here's what can happen when you deviate from the procedure!

If the name wasnt on the boat ever just the uscg documentation paperwork ,do i need a ceremony to name the new to me boat?

If I not mistaken, a USCG documented vessel MUST have a name, hailing port and the documentation number to be official. So you may want to look into what name you boat was supposed to be.

I wrote a blog about it on my site. There's a link to the ceremony.

Burleyboating.com and look down the right side of the page for the renaming link.

was this from the drunk operator?

what do you do if the name has already been removed from the boat when you bought it? can i just go with a naming ceramony or must i do a unnaming first even if there is no trace of the previous name?

ALWAYS do the denaming ceremony first. Very important!
