The official '99-'04 260DA Sundancer thread

300' of 3-strand and 50' of chain. Plenty of room for more.

Soak/wash the rope in a bucket, then soak it for a day in a bucket with fabric softener. If it's still too stiff, cut the splice and resplice - either a few feet down the rode or flip it end for end.

That's good to here. I am leaning towards 300 ft. Still up in the air about what line to use. To many choices. When spring comes I will try and soak the anchor line see if that helps.

Installing a garmin 70dv and can't seem to find a food location for it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Matt - use a RAM mount. Check their website out - they have many options and it makes mounting GPS's VERY easy.

Hey guys I hope your boating season has started off on the right foot. I am wondering what to carry as of spare parts. I was thinking belts, waterpump impeller, and oils. What else should I carry. Thanks

I have a starter, wire, oil, impeller, props, prop wrench, jumper cables, dead blow hammer, funnel, rags, etc.
I made a shelf in the bilge that is in front of the engine. It has some stainless deck hardware that I used to secure it.

Has anyone mounted Scotty down-riggers to their 260? I think on the port side there is room to mount one using the 1025 right angle mount. On the starboard side the curve in the gunnel for the sink doesn't give enough room for this. Maybe a rod holder mount would work? Either way I go I don't think I can have the rear part of the bimini up while using the down-riggers.

Thanks Todd. That is a nice set up that have there going to see if I can do that with the ac pump and strainer located there. Might have to do some modifications. :)

Hey guys I was wondering does any one know when the fuel gage reads most accurate. Move at speed, docked or on the trailer. Thanks

Whenever the keel is perfectly level - roughly the same as when the cockpit floor is level. But will vary as the fuel level goes down because of the tank shape.

I realize you posted this sometime ago, however; did you or any other members come up with a way to mount a tv antenna on a 260 that works decent and doesn't look bad?

Hi everyone, we've been looking for a clean 260 SunDancer we can afford down here in FL. Finally found a like new 01 in our price range and moved forward with it last night. Just 333 hours and if you didn't know the year, you'd think it was new. Getting a trailer made so it won't be available for pickup for a week or so. We'll be primarily using it in and around the indian river, upper key west around Miami and st johns river. Hear it might be a bit top heavy, but on nice days we hope to be able to safely explore, snorkel and camp around the reefs in key west.
The unit doesn't have a chartplotter which around here is a must have. Been looking for a reasonably priced unit, with a 7" screen or so. Have the Navatronics maps on Ipad mini, so something that might match up with that would be good. doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a big chartplotter on the helm. So I'm looking for ideas??

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and any advice on boating in the keys!

Regards
Mke

Congrats on the new to you boat. The Garmin 740S is the one I would get if you're looking for a 7" screen. I have the 545s and love Garmin's format. The 740 was not available when I bought this unit but it's been great.

The 740 is slightly wider than the 545s shown here on our boat.

Hey Mike
I just installed a Garmin 70dv on mine. I think it's a bit to large for the dash and would of rather had a 5".

Trying to clean the air conditioning filter. Anyone know how to get it out?

Has anyone replaced the lightbulb over the sink in the galley? it's the one in the dual socket fixture directly over the fridge and has the Edison style screw bulb on it? It is the last bulb on my list to convert to LED but I can't find one that fits this socket and the size allowed in the fixture. It appears to be an E14 style bulb - the last 2 bulbs I've ordered were too big for the fixture.

Mine blew a few years ago and I was about to figure out which LED would work and then I realized... it didn't really matter to me since the only time that bulb is being used is when I'm on shore power. In other words, conserving power wasn't a priority since I was not using battery power. But, no, I don't know which LED bulb would work.

Duh.... Now I feel so blonde. Thanks Lazy Daze I guess my rush to change everything to LED was only 99% Thought through.
