I have a pack of these I don't need. I think 7/8ths. Mine are "lift the dot" type snaps which I ordered and installed all of em broke or missing. Then I reordered but may have been me or shipper, sent the wrong pack. I can look up for you. To ship you my wrong pack, they do fit the windshield, can't be till back aboard to retrieve it week of July 17.
Thank you for the offer, but you should hold on to yours. I’ll order a 10 pack and they’ll be here in two days. I just wanted to make sure I got the right size! Thank you for the help!!!!!

We are back from the island. My oldest daughter’s boyfriend is a film editor and took these pictures on the boat and at our yacht club. Fun weekend! :):)

Good morning and Happy Father’s Day! I broke a windshield frame snap clip closing up last night. Does anyone know what size they are 3/4 or 7/8th?

Let me check my extra hardware from my canvas. Might have a few to send or at least measure.

Jim broke a snap, and I went to check my port engine oil and the whole dip stick tube just broke.

So, had family with put of town friends ds coming on the boat so had to make it work. Had some heavy rubber gasket material that I cut into a plug and an oil absorbent pad. A little drippy, but kept the fun going.

Holy smokes! That's not supposed to happen. Perhaps got compromised somehow prior and weakened. Good temporary fix. Now what? Must be a fitting of sorts?

Pretty sure it is just a chamfered interference fit, which sucks since as you point out it broke with chamfered part still in the engine. Thinking an easy-out, vice grips and some tapping.

Worst case, going have to drill and then drain/flush the oil pan.

Open to any ideas though.

Dam. Beyond my pay grade! Good luck!

Found images and YouTubes of the dipstick tube and it's chamfered press fitting. Honestly didn't know what that meant. Now I see! Hope you can get the fitting out!

At about 175 hrs since last PM, having my yacht manager perform. He knows how, and my confidence in him is high from this past year's worth of experience with him. I brought up the following when we discussed:
- oil/filter change using resident system incl. tranny oil & genset
- check coolant level (not sure how other than expansion bottles view)
- air filters clean/replace
- Racors clean & replace filters
- check belts
- open cooler endcaps, inspect tubes, remove any zinc debris, replace pencil zincs. Decide if any cooler needs to come out for chemical clean.
- inspect turbo, look for wobble, spin freely
- replace impellers
- check all clamps
- operate all thru hull seacocks
- service strainers (baskets are only 1yr old)
Any remarks, or on something missed?

Have him check the DCA levels in the coolant and I would slap on a new coolant filter too.

Good idea on coolant to check it's function. On acquisition 2 yrs ago, all new coolant, about 250 hrs ago. If I recall correctly, should hold up for 1000 hrs, but I wouldn't intend to wait that long, maybe just change it out at 600 hrs is so.

I just put lifetime coolant in mine (cummins complete blue), but the DCA or SCA is sacrificial and needs to be checked and added periodically. This keeps pitting from happening to the cylinders. Minus the additive, you can lose the engine as micro-holes can develop in the cylinder walls and coolant will leak in and one day hydraulic lock the engine, or worse.

Cummins filters come with additive and flows into the coolant system when you change it.

Awesome, thanks! Quick lookup on DCA you mention, caught that notion. Added to the list!

Good news. PM svc in progress, coolant will be DCA checked. Apparently then decides on the coolant filters He was working on pencil zincs, coolers all good (that's a relief as they were replaced 2 yrs ago except block engine coolers cleaned in place at that time). Meanwhile, Cummins mechanic who replaced my coolant 250hrs ago also responded quickly that he test strip checks annually, btw. Hi end blue coolant as I recall.

The only thing I would add is to check all of your hoses. I replaced both of my water pumps last year and did the hoses at the same time. I know it's a shitty job, but check your black water hoses also for age and cracks. It's not a fun job, but it is a lot easier to do in your slip than have one rupture and ruin a trip.
