The neglected Sea Rays

Now August 2022, still no activity. It is getting greener....

A shame

Meh…

mine is turning green and I scrubbed 2 weeks ago. It’s been out 8 times since and anyone who’s read my thread knows maintenance to the level of OCD is my thing.

something about an 81 degree dew point and keeping the cabin ac set to 74 does it

This isn't a Sea Ray, but is quite sad anyway.

This boat is in my boat yard and was recently moved, and I think the yard owners are getting ready to dispose of it. It's been languishing in a back corner for about 8-9 years, uncovered and open to the elements. It used to be my brother-in-law's boat and he kept it very nicely.

Then he sold it to a guy that was pretty clueless. Post-sale, the new owner kept calling a pestering him with questions and "problems" that were found, wanting cash for the "issues". That guy used the boat a handful of times over maybe 2 months then just disappeared and abandoned the boat on the mooring. The yard pulled the boat for winter, installed the mooring cover, and winterized it. The new owner never showed up or paid the bill.

So here's how that Four Winns 205 Sundowner looks today.

Looks like it was parted out.

Unfortunately, no. Really nothing to save on the inside. The seats and panels and stuff are on the ground behind the boat. They are trashed. The fuel tank and engine are next to the shop and are toast. The outdrive (Volvo) is a mess too.

Our local landfill will take boats for disposal, but the engine and fuel tanks have to be removed. I think this is what they're doing.

I get the same thing in Savannah on The Office, every 2-3 week cleaning is required, particularly spring and summer. I keep both ACs at 78 when I'm not there, interior is humidity free and not affected, just start to get that light green outside. Not bad if you don't let it get away from you, I hit it with a 1800psi electric pressure washer between deep cleans and it's gone. I also run a small dehumidifier in the galley area when absent.

I have not seen anyone on this boat in 2 years now...there was a planter filled with wine bottles (empty) on the dock for the first year, guess the marina staff cleaned it up finally.

Still a shame, will take a good bit of interior work I'm afraid as well as who knows?

I would sell or give away before I let that happen.

Yep, new owner bought our marina. The old just let the derelict pile up like trophies. New guy said screw this, been a 2 month mission to eliminate. Has to remove every piece of steel off boat, take to a metal scrap yard, then can haul bare fg to the dump to have crushed. Lot of work on each boat to dispose. It’s interesting to go there every day watching them do it.
I offered to help since I am RETIRED (maybe you heard) but it’s considered hazmat work so I not allowed.
My problem is he ran the outboard shop on the property. Great mechanic. I dropped off my old outboard 2 weeks ago to get running cause a buyer is waiting for it and sitting there 2 weeks while he ‘improves’ the marina. Fix my dam outboard then crush boats.
