Anyone been to this? It is fairly local to me and cheap, but I am not really into bow riders, center consoles or fishing, so not sure if it worth my time....

Went to the Annapolis show this year and if it wasn't for the funnel cake it would have been a wasted trip for me. ALL outboards and very little useful vendor's.

Cutco is a great company. They are not custom knife quality but pretty decent quality for the average home chef.

Sorry, really not busting on you. My SIL sold Cutco knives and we had to buy them. I am a Henckels fan have had the same set for 30 years and still going strong.

To be honest most of my knives are Henckels. My meat forks and shears are Cutco. I cant afford custom knives while maintaining two boats and paying college tuition for kids.

Most of kitchen knives do double duty as pry bars, weed diggers, zip tie cutters, etc. But they still cut meat so good enough.
Thats what these kids do to knives in my house and it drives me nuts. I made the 19YO buy a replacement when he broke one off trying to use it as a screwdriver and he no longer touches any knives found in a knife block. I directed him to the toolbox in the garage but now I'm missing three screwdrivers, two pliers, a clamp, and a hammer.

I am a henckel fan too…..for years

so to answer Pirates question about a boat show the thread instantly goes to knives :):)….I think you have your answer @Pirate Lady

We keep a drawer of crappy steak knives that I didn't care if the kids used as tools. They knew if they touched my Henckels they were done. My newest prized possession is a Henckels meat cleaver. Love that thing.

Now don't get me started on tools...My dad made sure that I had a complete set of mechanic's tools when I got married (he didn't want me borrowing his, I am sure). When he died I got his tools as well, so I two full sets. Not long after that my kids started working on cars, especially my youngest. At that point I was constantly looking for tools. Both my kids have moved out and so have my tools. I do have a complete set on my boat. I guess my kids got tired of me bitching about missing tools because they bought me a 300 piece Craftsman tool set complete with the tool box.

So as not to hijack the thread, we have a boat show coming up in late February put on by regional boat dealers. It is usually pretty good. If nothing else, they always have a couple Chris Craft boats there. And the beer is always cold...

My father was not a handyman. Too busy running his business. Only tools were a hammer, rusty pliers, a worn tip flat screwdriver, said if he couldn’t fix with that he calling somebody.
So one Christmas I bought him a real nice hundred some piece tool set. I swear to god, he looked at me and said “What the fark am I supposed to do with this?”.
So the next year I bought him a real nice chainsaw that I really wanted!
Ya, True.

My grandfather was a tool die maker, when he passed I was given his super precision micrometer. That has somehow disappeared and whenever I think about it like now it really really pisses me off.

In my world these 40yr olds and younger can’t read the old line micrometers …it’s a paper weight to them….. I need digital readouts that convert metric/inch or they’re useless in the shop as most can’t work in metric…… it’s a gong show these days

I am running a job today and the print is in metric but the inspection sheet is in inch…. I called the guy that wrote them and said what the Phuck?….. He said the guys don’t like working in metric …. I sad tough shit I’m not sitting here converting….. they can convert or learn metric

@Blueone Both of my kids are very comfortable working in metric. My youngest has owned nothing but Mazdas and a BMW. My oldest son's first car was a Toyota. They can actually both read analog micrometers. They always tell me "you can't have too many 11 mm sockets, it's the 1/2 inch of metric". I tried to introduce them to my Dad's slide rule, that concept completely eluded them.:)

I use to use slide rules in high school….. can you imagine the guys brain that came up with that concept?…. That’s how you know aliens exist :) you just can’t trip over that idea

My grandpa tried teaching me a slide rule for a long time but I never grasped it. But then i never was a math guy.

Slide rule, manual micrometer, Oh man! There is no way on the world I could ever read them anymore even with glasses. The thought of that just makes my head hurt!
