Bought sight unseen?

I think this is the guy in Afghanistan, with the TX national guard... Nice looking boat...

I did buy it sight unseen but I had it Surveyed. And yes, I'm in Afghanistan with the Texas Army National Guard. I was on the Marina website just checking prices for slips because I had decided I would buy a boat when I returned home. I saw this one for sale and I made a really lowball offer. (50% of his asking price) He accepted my offer pending a survey and after having it checked out I pulled the trigger. The boat has been at the same Marina since 1994 and the previous owner had all of his services done there so I was able to get service and maintenence records going back that far. The previous owner was elderly and had passed away, his son had been trying to sell the boat for over a year and I guess my offer came at the right time as he didn't want to continue paying slip fees for a boat he never used. The marina service manager told me that he was the only one that had even used the boat in the last 3 years! the previous owner would pay him to take the boat out once a month for an hour. It's been 15 years since I owned a boat so I know all about the love hate relationship I just entered into...

Sounds good... good luck and thank you for your service.

Very nice - I have an '89 250DA so we can share notes. I've owned mine for several years so feel free to ask questions, and I might do the same back ;-)

First, Thanks for your service, Second, Welcome to the club, Third, Nice looking boat.

Congrats!

I had an '84 250DA as my first cruiser. Otherwise known as my first crack-pipe. Been squandering the family fortunes ever since. Hope you get to really enjoy it upon your safe return.

BTW, I love Lake Travis. Once the water comes back up you'll be on one of the best waterways of Texas.

I had a boat in lake Travis Hurst Harbor Marina to be specific. When there is no drought it's the best lake to be found bar none. We used to drop anchor in one of the canyon coves by a waterfall. The kids would climb the 20 ft. cliff and slide down the limestone floor stream over the water fall into the lake then swim back to the boat. It was picture postcard perfect. I miss it every day. Unfortunately with the drought Travis is suffering, however all it needs is 7 days of torretial rain and it will be back to normal.

Great boat!! You'll need a place to spend your energy after returning home from that hell hole. There is no problem on a boat that can match the what you put up with over there. Thanks for keeping us free and able to enjoy whatever passion we decide to invest in.

Welcome aboard and thanks for your service. Oh, nice boat.
