Tell me your terrible story's.... :smt089 :smt089

Peter.

Yep I also like the fun

But you never know Wes maybe we get some story's

Thanks you sportive!

Peter.

Not a fun topic..but it may help you not to kill yourself by reading some of the responses. I saw 2 boats burn to the waterline this year because both did not turn their blower on first.:smt009 The good thing is...no one got hurt!

I agree on the topic issue, but maybe we can learn and respect the power of our boats, the danger of fuel etc.

Here is one I saw on SRO also I believe no one really hurt!

A reoccurring factor in boating accidents and fatalities is of course consuming mass quantities of alcohol.

At a lake last year, where I no longer have a slip, four people lost their lives. A family of three, father, mother and young daughter all died when inebriated dad drove his cuddy cabin boat into the shore, at night, while doing what was estimated to be about 50 mph. The father was found topside and the other two family members in the cabin – all died on impact.

Another poor guy drowned while trying to retrieve a gas grill at the dock. Apparently, he hit the dock while retuning from a long day out, which knocked his grill into the water. He dove in after it into about 12’ of water and got tangled on the cables that secure the floating docks. The wife and other family members were all on his pontoon boat when he took the plunge. The body was recovered the next day by divers. I never found out if alcohol was a contributing factor here, but seems likely.

Another unlucky friend of mine was loading his boat onto the trailer; when another drunken fool didn’t throttle down in time and made his bow become much too intimate with the stern of the boat half out of the ramp. No serious injury here, just a ruined boating season for the unfortunate man only trying to get his boat out. The local coast guard auxiliary was called but would not assist in pressing charges, as they do not have law enforcement capabilities.

Drinking and boating makes me very nervous on crowded weekends and holidays. :smt009

So.. PMvdb - I'm worried... I don't want you blowing yourself up... since you're in The Netherlands, can you elaborate where? I'm going to be in Leiden, Haarlem and Schiedam in a couple of weeks and if I see some sort of boating disaster, want to make sure you're SAFE!

Don't want to hi-jack this thread so I'll be brief. I come to The Netherlands for the weather. Just like what we have here in Seattle. (Actually, customer visits)

We usually start Drinking after we try to kill ourselves.
I have kite tube pictures of myself and my cousin but it seems I'm on picture uploading :smt021 restriction
