Texas Newbie Here!

Hi all! I am Chris and I am from Deer Park, Texas. New to boating. This past summer my wife and I purchased a 1997 185 B/R and have had an absolute blast with out two young kiddos. Since this is my first boat and I am new to the whole thing I hope to lear alot from everyone here.

Hi, Chris. Welcome to the board. There's no shortage of good people and great information here. I have two small boys myself, and enjoy (almost) every second of boating with them. Glad to hear you’re having fun.

My boys are now 13 and 17 and I have been boating with them for the last 8 years. I purchase a small Sea Doo jet boat which we used until the end of last year at which time I bought the 185 Sport. We have now taken up wake boarding along with the skiing, tubing and kneeboarding that we have done for years. I got up on the wakeboard on my second try! Anyway, it is a great hobby, experience, lifestyle, whatever you want to call it, to share with your boys. Be sure to find some additional materials on navigation etc. so that you can be a safe boater and train them early. My boys started driving at 8 and now I can count on them to pull me with ease. Thanks everyone! My son is going to be 6 at the end of this month and my daughter is 3. A friend of mine has a 9 yr. old son and my boy saw him wakeboarding. To make a long story short I gotta get him started this year. Mostly we like to go out and anchor up and swim, and let the kiddos play.
