Have you guys ever tested the pink stuff? I bought some -50 at Rural King farm store. I got home and tested it and it tested 10 degrees F. What the heck?

Did it just jell at 10 or did it freeze and expand?

Check your chemistry on t he antifreeze vs. the tester. Most automotive testers can only be used on ethelyene glycohol and RV antifreeze is a polyalcohol.

You need a Thexton 107 to test propylene glycol-based antifreeze. (below) The Prestone -50 pink stuff I use will normally float 2 balls...which is good for about -20 or so before it changes from a liquid to a slush. When the temp falls below -20 the pink stuff becomes slushy. I've kept a jug in my garage a few years ago, at -35 it was still slush and didn't expand or swell the jug. Don't think you will float the number of balls to equal -50...because it changes state around the -20 to -30 degree range.

You can find propylene testers at major auto parts stores.
