Just picked up my first Sea Ray yesterday. It's a 250 Sundancer 1995. The hull is in great shape and has not been painted. It kills me to paint it but it but it will be on a saltwater slip for the next several months so I'm not taking chances. Looking for advice on a bottom paint that would match the broad teal strip and the canvases. Don't want to do black or blue but I'm considering white if color matching isn't an option.

Rack it instead. 25' should be pretty easy to find a rack.

If your putting it in salt, then your going to get growth. You dont say were you are but the warmer the water the faster it grows.

To do it right, you will need to barrier coat, then paint it, otherwise, you'll leave a big issue for the next guy.

When we stopped trailering, except for vacations and occasional jaunts to the finger lakes, we painted the bottom of our ‘92 290DA teal. Looked fine. Keeping a boat in the water, any water, even fresh without paint is a pita. Good luck

My previous SeaRay was bottom painted in a teal shade.
I liked it.

Thanks everyone. I'm in RI and we are very happy with the location of the slip so the extra maintenance will be worth it to us. Anyone know a decent brand and type of paint would match this? Will paint white if I have to but would like to match the teal.

I'd be very careful about selecting the teal color to match your stripes. I did it with an 88 300WE I owned. Within very little time it faded significantly and totally did not match the boat anymore. After that I went to black and stuck with it for the next 25 years. Maybe newer paints are more fade resistant but I'd do a lot of heavy research before I committed.

Go black, po used teal green, I covered with black and it’s much better. The teal tells me when it’s painting time.
Notice how in the water the black disappears with the water. I don’t want the paint to stand out.

Agreed with dark over teal. Also, check to see what the locals use that works in your area. What we use versus where you are may not apply/work.

I have a dark teal under my old girl and it looks great.

The upfront cost for your first paint job will be high but it must be done right. The first time is the foundation for the rest of the boats bottom jobs. Good luck with it, very nice looking boat

And usually the darker the color the more copper content, except for red cause it’s closest to copper hence highest content. I think blue has the least. No idea about white.

He right, often times it’s best to get a pro to apply the first coat. Lot more than just slapping on paint.
