Anyone see the teak carpet Four Winns uses on some of their cruisers? What do you think? And don't give it a thumbs down just because it looks fourwinnsy

I think it looks pretty good in their boats. We have a Four Winns dealer next to my marina so I've looked at a lot of them. I'm not sure if it would look right in a Sea Ray because their carpet is just one component of the overall styling package of the Four Winns. The vinyl seats, dash colors, carpet, gel....everything ties together nicely and I don't think you can grab just one of the components and drop it in a Sea Ray and get the same effect.

.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems to go nice with the vinyl. I'm getting new carpets from snapin and I'd like something to break up the light color everywhere. I think I'm staying away from berber as fish hooks get caught easy. Thanks for the input.

Snapincarpets is now stocking this carpet. We think it looks great. Yes, Four Winns was the first to use it, but they also make some great boats.

We wanted something a little nicer than than the 10 year old Berber carpet that Sea Ray has not grown out of.....

I sent my templates out today. I was planning on taking a shot with the teak carpet but they only carry 6ft wide roll. I'll need a 9X7 cut. So I went with the Sandy Berber. There really isn't a large selection of marine carpets in the industry. And I REALLY searched for something plush with a suitable backing. You can't blame Sea Ray though. They have to use what the mills offer.

I just got my new cockpit cover made at a local upholsterer. He had a small board with about 20 - 30 carpet samples on it. A lot where plush. Keep looking. Did you see the tan color that Snap-In has? It looks to be the same base color as the teak stuff.

On edit: Oops... didn't read your whole post - you said you already sent out the templates. Sorry.

I got samples from four places and it was all the same stuff. I really liked the feel of the silver mist from Corinthian but no way that goes with my canvas. When I say plush, I was looking for 60oz face weight, but the more I thought about it, I'll be cleaning that more than I do the bare deck. I'll be more than happy with the berber. It feels softer than my originals. I also sent the swim platform template, cockpit entrance, and bottom step into the cabin. Should have pics in a few weeks.

Oh, you were looking for the stuff that comes up to your ankles when you step in it...

haha, yeah I guess I just want to be the guy with the best lawn on the block just once!

Well now I'm 0 for 2 on my carpet selection. Snapin notified me today the Sandy Berber only comes with the black rubber backing. No way that stuff is going on my boat again. Unless there's a maintenance step I missed to stop it from falling apart.
Has anyone seen the "carbon steel" color? I thought I asked for the sample but got "carbon silver". I'm wondering if it will go with my tan canvas. It almost looks green but I know colors aren't true on an lcd screen.

Does it only come with the standard backing? I've heard good things about the upgraded backing. They sent me samples and the upgrade looks a lot more durable than the standard.

.

The backing on the Sandy berber sample is the black honeycomb. It looks the same as on my old carpets. The other samples had the vinyl ribbed backing, which looks much more durable. I'm tempted to just go with the Grey berber but I don't know if it will match my tan canvas.

Look into their "Moonshine". I'm looking at a sample with the upgraded backing and it looks nearly identical to the original.

I really wanted something darker. Snapin is sending me samples of the gray berber, carbon steel and desert sand (not shown on their website). They're really helpful, good people to work with.

If you guys are looking for an alternative to the "black honey comb" backing check out www.corinthianmarine.com for a full selection of 30 oz and 36 oz Berbers with Aqualoc vinyl backing.
