Just saw on the news Target will pay up to $10,000 per person in data breach if you can prove you were affected in someway by the data breach. I found out on Dec 24th that year over $500 was charged to my account at Walmart & Target in Federal Way it took several days to straighten everything out. Luckily I have all the reports from the bank & police with copies of the charges.

Will be interesting to see if we will qualify. Since then we've had to charge accounts 2 times thanks to HD.

We have been a part of at least four of these deals in the past year. It sucks all around. Now Target and all retailers have to raise prices to cover this type of loss. so there is no good in this, only bad, for our pockets no matter if you lost at the bank or not.

A guy I met who works in cyber security said; by year 2020 an individual will have NO confidential information including SS#, mothers maiden name, previous addresses for over the past 30 years, and even medical records.

The communistic central planners of the past century could not have imagined a way of living that was so personally controlling.

In other news, Elon Musk believes in the future it will be illegal to drive cars.

Autonomy as we knew it is OVER...

Isn't it "Up to" $10K each-and in your case they would only reimburse you the $500 and whatever penalties and fees?
Luckily all we had to do was close our account and there were no charges.

Not sure if you missed it the thread is called Target to pay up to $10,000 per person in data breach. Your lucky you were able to catch it in time it's been a real hassle.

First line in my post.

Just saw on the news Target will pay up to $10,000 per person in data breach if you can prove you were affected in someway by the data breach.

They just released the details with proof your entitled to collect all fees associated with the breach plus any expenses incurred with your accounts including time spent dealing with anything related to your accounts like auto payments, travel time which in my case involved 3 trips to our Credit Union the fraud unit is a 90 mile round trip.

Without proof any funds left in the settlement will be distributed to anyone filing if they were notified by Target that their data was compromised.

Just released 3 days ago.

My reading comprehension was lacking yesterday......:smt101
Yes, we were lucky. Our neighbors got hit.
BTW.....I my have said this before, but I have an Aunt and Uncle named Bob & Sue.

I am glad they are doing this IMO. When Sony Playstation had their hack, all they did was give away a couple of free games and a 1 year credit check.....
