Hey Everyone,

Just wondering what restaurants you've taken the boat to - I'm always looking for recommendations.

Thanks!

Frenchy's has a dock on the intercoastal. Parking for your boat is free if you eat there and bring back the receipt.

On the bay side. I've been to bahama breeze on the courtney campbell, to rattle fish just south of the Gandy bridge and over to the Waterside Marriott in channel side. all good places to go, my fav is Rattle Fish. it's a real boaters hangout.

Thanks - I went to boatclix.com to see how to get Bahama Breeze - we tried to get there one time, but it was SO shallow going thru the channel on the north side of the courtney campbell - not sure if we were going the right way. Probably not, since I was following the directions of a kid on the phone at Bahama Breeze who probably really didn't know.

for Bahama Breeze you head under the courtney campbell, then turn to starboad and follow the channel makers the run along the shore line. you're natural desire is to get away from the cuaseway but if you get outside the channel even a little bit you'll end up in the mud. the channel will drop you into a long no wake zone with the rocky point appartments to you're right and some high end water front homes to you're left. Follow he channel as it meanders around to the right and it will eventually open up into the lagoon their at bahama breeze.

the biggest key to this run is to know the channel markers along the courtney campbell and obey then while staying on plane. if I remmeber rith thier is one section where you're no more then 5 or 6 feet from the shore line but you're in 6 feet of water and if you get too far out it's like 2 feet of water.

Thanks phinney - we took that route and stayed in the markers, but ended up in way too shallow of water - the tide was at the low end, I don't know if they have problems in that channel during low tide. Maybe I'll try it again during higher tide (?)

during North Eastern wind patterns, like we have had over the last couple of week it can get real shallow in the upper bay. this is typical of the winter time weather pattern and can make getting in and out of the upper bay a bit of a pain with having to time entering and exiting during the hig tides. hopefully the wind will die off soon and we'll have some better boating.

where are you coming out of Water Rat? Where do you keep your boat?

We are in Apollo Beach at Lands End Marina. We were in Ruskin at Shell Point, but we recently switched. I don't go to the upper bay much, usually we head over to egmont or ft. desoto.

I do want to do some exploring this fall/winter. We haven't gone on the hillsborough river or anything like that. I don't know if there's much to see up there, or what...

trying to remember, I think theres a nice resturant on the hillsborough river but I can't seem to remember the name and with Boatclix.com going DOA I can't seem to find it on the web.

I'm think of play hockie tommorrow and doing some snorkling around the ruins at egemont after all it is columbus day...you know that guy with the boat....

I believe your talking about Rick's on the River. I think that's it I've never been there but I've heard it's good.

Yes, boatclix is dead. Too bad, I liked that they had info about restautants and a locations linked to charts. aargh.
