Looking for people who like to cruise weekends from as far south as Venice, including, Sarasota, Bradenton, St.Petes, Clearwater up to Tarpon Springs.

What type of boat do you have? Do you usually take longer trips? What speed do you usually cruise at? We go out mostly to Caladesi in the winter, 3 rooker, tarpon and some areas on the ICW around Clearwater.

You should put more info about yourself.

We boat mostly in Punta Gorda/Charlotte Harbour area.

I am harbored in Tarpon Springs. I also frequent 3 Rooker, Anclote and Calidesa. But I do from time to time go to Anna Maria and areas further south.

Anybody have anything planned for the week of Thanksgiving?

We plan to spend most of the week on the boat timidly exploring from the Manatee River. So far our saltwater FL experience has been limited to two trips trailered to Fort Desoto and then to Egmont Key. We are now in the Manatee Landings high & dry on the Manatee River.

Can anyone recommend some other destinations nearby?

We are in New Port Richey and haven't made a trip that south yet, but are very interested in meeting up with others in the area to be able check out new places and areas -kinda like traveling in a small flotilla.

Same here. Caladesi is on the top of our list for a trip this winter. We would be interested in any group trips. We'll be on the boat for 7 days starting Monday and going either north or south - haven't decided yet!

We're thinking of getting out on Friday, wife's working through Wed, Thanksgiving dinner planned for Thur. We haven't done an overnight in this boat yet (just got it couple of months ago) but have been thinking Caladesi might be a good intro. We should talk before you head out (maybe email or phone), if nothing else meet up at anchorage.

That would be an adventurous cruise up the ICW from the Manatee River for us at this point in our FL boating experience but we'd love to do it. I'll need to pick up charts and check into it further though. Not sure exactly how long that would take! :smt001

Weather permitting, you'd be much better off skipping the ICW and running outside from the mouth of Tampa Bay and coming inside at Clearwater Pass. Winds are supposed to be not too bad for a change- SE 10-15 the end of the week.

If you need any local info about getting into Caladesi pm me.

We spend many winter weekends at Caladesi. It would be great to get a CSR weekend together.

In the meantime, feel free to stop by, we usually hang out on C dock.

I certainly hope you guys got out this weekend. Friday was one of the most stellar Tgiving weekends that we've had around here in some time. Today was a bit breezier, but still, it was 74 degrees.
If the CSR makes it's way to Sarasota or South, don't forget to honk. We'll jump in to the line if we can.
I'm only one canal off of your likely stop at the old Holiday Inn Marina (Now called the Sarasota Hotel and Marina).

Dukes - we're at HomePort.

It was a great weekend, we were out Fri/Sat, beautiful and made it in before the heavier winds rolled in.

Kevin,

I'm also at HomePort (B Dock). Love that place. I believe I've seen your boat a couple times getting fuel. We went out on Friday. Yes it was nice. Are you planning on New Year's Eve at Caladesi? I heard it's a lot of fun. Thinking we will do it this year.

Ooooo maybe I can make that one without something ruining my plans. What's New Year's like at Caladesi??? Do the slips fill up?

Duke's -

We should be there for New Year's but not certain yet. We've been there the past four years and it's always a blast. You typically have to get a slip several days ahead as it does fill up. PM me if you want more details.

We made it out to Caledesi the Friday after Thanksgiving, must have walked past you Serenity Now, we were on C also - down the end, 2 slips in from that big Hatras on the end. Didn't see your post before we left otherwise we would of introduced ourselves. Great sunset and walking on the beach in the morning. We left mid morning Sat before the winds kicked up.
We're really thinking about New Years over there.
Jim

Another one here from C-Dock, you will probably recognize me from the tohead kids running up and down the dock telling everyone about the last big fish they caught. Yes they are mine, and let me apologize now if they have wrangled you into taking a fish off their hook. I was out last weekend, saw Serenity Now, beautiful boat, mines the 99' 340 with the 12' dink next to the big Luhrs .
