Here are some crappy cell shots of the weekend's festivities. More to come when I get my *GASP* film developed from my SLR

Weekend started with a Buckeye Tailgate/viewing party at our homeport

Amazingly we got 5 slips on the public docks at PIB so we moved the party there Sunday. We were greeted by TBDBITL

Tallships were showing up all day, giving tours and preparing for the Labor day Battle

At dusk the unmistakable sound of The Best Damn Band in the Land started booming through downtown Put in Bay

They marched through down town and held a twilight concert under the Monument

Next was probably the best fireworks show I have ever seen. We were sitting 300 yards from the fireworks barge.

Back to the boats to put the kids to bed and have some adult time to "prepare" for battle in the morning

Time for battle. My radar had a seizure when it picked up the mass of boats. reports of over 2000 pleasure craft

It was a unique, once in a lifetime weekend, that will not be forgotten. Again I apologize for the crappy cell shots. I will upload more once I get my pictures developed... speaking of, who the hell still actually develops film anymore. All the mom and pop places are gone...

Great Pics. I think I have a few from nearly the same vantage points both of the OSU band and the Tall Ships out by West Sister.

The battle recreation was crazy. I couldn't enjoy it very much because of all of the boat traffic kept my head on a swivel. Before it got really crazy I had staked a patch of lake watching the Niagra and Windy (which played the Lawrence) both sailing in different directions with their accompanying fleets of spectator boats. When the battle begun both the Windy and Niagra turned directly toward me to begin forming the line of ships in the American fleet.

Nice pics! I'm amazed you got parking spaces at B dock, good for you! That was an awesome fireworks display, and Monday's event was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Oddly enough, at one point we were one of 3 boats about 1/4 mile south of the re-enactment, and we were thinking we would have primo seats as they seemed to be moving in our direction. But they turned away, and we wound up coming north in a hurry to catch the action...

It was definitely tough for me to enjoy as much as I wanted as well with all of the traffic. We hung with the British fleet for a while until my crew started to get quezzy, so we took a ride on plane to get away from some of the roughness of the lake. Headed over to the American fleet and followed them for a bit until my crew felt sea sick again so we headed in. All in all fun but the I wish the lake would have been a little more corporative for the battle itself. Regardless, still a pretty spectacular site to see though

I posted these elsewhere earlier, but it seems more appropriate to post them here...

For Labor Day, we were lucky enough to be able to view the Bicentennial celebration of the Battle-of-Lake Erie. The weekend was amazing and the reenactment of the battle was a blast (literally). There were close to 2,000 recreational boats on the lake watching 16 tall ships reenact the battle. It was epic. We also were able to ride on the tall ship, Hindu, which was docked at Catawba Island Club (our marina) for the weekend. <br />

Thanks for posting the pic's everyone. Alex, you said the "best damn band in the land" was there but I didn't see any Maze and Blue in your pic's.

I have to say I had a hard time watching that band from Ohio play... GO BLUE!

I will hold my tongue on this... LOL

Just think if we wouldn't have won the battle in OHIO's waters you all would be Canadian now, and not even have real football let alone a band.

Here is The Best Damn Band In The Land on the ferry boat to PIB.
