Guys,

I am taking my boat down to Anna Maria Island this summer. My questions is boat storage. Several of the places have lifts and some do not. We will be there only a week. Is a week too long to leave the boat in Saltwater? I know a lift would be better, but will it be that big of a deal since it is only for a week?

Thanks in advance

You should be ok for 7 days with no special prep. Just make sure you have a good coat of wax on it and flush it and pressure wash it as soon as you get home.

I used to keep my Formulas in the water for up to two weeks at a time in the Keys and the Bahamas and never had any trouble.

If you have a trailer that's not galvanized flush it as soon as you can after you dip it. Any bare metal will start to rust instantly.

Flush w/ Salt Away and their applicator.

:wow: Breaking news Wingless makes first post giving good advice.

You should be fine for 1 week. I leave mine in the water for about 2-3 weeks in June but we use it all day every day so would be to much of a hassle in and out of the water.

Last year I did have some green/yellow funk but I got some stuff at West Marine that I basically sprayed on and it came right off (had acid or something in it) then I rinsed and washed and applied wax. Also always use salt away to flush and wash the boat.

Wingless,

Thanks, I figure we will use ours about everyday as well. We found a place we really like they want an extra $200.00 for the lift. Which is not that big of a deal, but $200.00 buys a lot of beer / boat drinks  gotta stay in budget you know.

 Quotes me, but thanks Wingless

It all depends on the water. I have had barnicle growth in 7 days. Like someone else said make sure you put an extra coat or two of wax on the bottom. The issue is crap on your hull. A week in salt wont hurt your engine or outdrive. BTW, $200 is chump change, spend it for the lift and thank me later.
