Taking family to Ocean beach

Hello All Was looking to taking family out to Ocean beach this weekend and I never went there before. Can anyone give me some advice? we went there a few weeks by ferry and we loved it. I spoke to dock master and he stated he only has three spaces that can fit me. I know their is a restaurant next door I think I can stop there for the day? are their any other spots. thanks in advance
 
Your best bet is the town dock, but get there early. Otherwise the Island Mermaid restaurant has a has a few slips. If all else fails try Mathews restaurant. They have the dock jetting into the bay. It does get rocky so if you can, get the slip that points your bow to the main land(north).
 
Stay at Matthews right next door; you get a restaurant credit as well. I have done that, so yes you can stay there overnight and/or all day
 
Town dock is great... Dan or Randolph will take good care of you as long as you take care of them...
 
Gotta go early though as they fill up quickly and there are only a few spots that can fit you...
 
You might be alright... If you can leave earlier I would... We normally try to get there around 10ish..

There is no water or electric... To get that your either going to Seaview which will cost you an arm and leg.. And I think he has a 2 night min... Or if your open minded go check out the Pines... It's a good time... But you gotta be open minded...
 
going with family and sister inlaws family. trying to make sure everything goes smoothly otherwise they probably not going to want to do it again...lol
i got the new garmin 741 for xmas can i just put it in poi?? and will it take me the right areas to cross to stay in the lane? otherwise I was going to bayshore and try to follow the ferry route. it looks like it get shallow over their I only need 29inchs

It's marked fairly well across the bay.... But you if your comming from the west you can just take the state Chanel right out and don't have to worry about crossing the bay at all.
 
we had a great time at ocean beach... We got their before 11am hit the beach and saw the whole town? How is Atlantic beach is it similar? is it also kid Friendlly?
 
Assuming you are talking about Atlantique in Fire Island and not the Atlantic Beach on Long Beach, Atlantique is a Marina with a playground and a snack bar. There is no town to speak of but the distance from the marina to the beach is the shortest on all of Fire Island. It is a hefty 25 minute walk from Atlantique to Ocean Beach, a walk best done along the waterline of the beach. There are no paved walks just deep sand so walking he paths is very difficult.

Is the other towns a little more easy going? We wanted to bar b q and relax but couldn't do it any where except boat? Can't understand shy you can't eat at the beach or drink? Is Atlantic different?
