WOW Dude!!! I hope this gets fixed one way or the other. You know,,, if it were just about the rotten trailer I would bitch and moan and move on but it's that this could have killed some one and you did not/any one did not know it.
That is what makes this thread so darn nail biting.

Wow man, I'm speechless. I've never seen a trailer get that bad. Was it sitting in salt water all its life? Jeez.

What kind of strange is it's number 19 It would be cool to see what number 1-18 look like.

This makes the case for an aluminum trailer anywhere near the coast. Let me know if you want to sell the alloy wheels when you junk the trailer. Those look great.

Or you buy a trailer made with hot dipped galvanized tubes. The shortcoming of painted steel trailers is that the manufacturer can't paint the inside of the tubes.

Well, looking at the rest of your pics, all I can say is that it is painfully obvious that that trailer should not have been sold - and I concentrated on looking at the areas that didn't break in your accident. If that trailer had come in to me on a trade, it would have been immediately sent to the metal recycler.

I'm not saying this to bad mouth your dealer, but there's no excuse for letting a trailer be sold in that condition.

At the very least, the selling dealer should make good by giving you 100% of the $$ you paid for that trailer towards another one. Also, I would think they would come to your house to do the trailer swap and the new trailer set-up. Or, at least come and get the rig and do the swap at their facility.

How much did you pay for it? Did you inspect it before you had them load your boat on it?

...I bought this boat off of a MasterCraft dealer who took the boat in on a trade. He said that the original trailer was shot that was on the boat and that He had put the boat onto this trailer....Now the price was right the boat and I figured the trailer would be an added bonus right???...

So, how much did you pay for the trailer? I would start there.

He paid $1000.00 for boat and trailer.

OK, missed that link to your other post the first time I read this.

But, cost aside, it doesn't relieve a selling dealer the responsibility of setting up a trailer safely - or at least informing the buyer that it is unsafe. They should of fully disclosed the condition of the trailer. Alph - you mentioned they said it was "solid", but in your other post you also mentioned you knew it was "rough". I won't try to interpret the conversation between you and the dealer, but if they assured you it was safe, then helping you, in some way, on a new one would be due.

I will say that the way the boat is sitting on the trailer in the first link was unsafe. But, if I may, Alph, I'll assume you knew that and were likely just hoping to get the boat home and then address that issue.

Back on point, the trailer should never have been sold - at least not under the conditions it sounds like it was sold under.

Have you had any contact with the selling dealer?

One other thought:

Does your state require the trailers to be inspected? If so, did they inspect this one or does it have a current sticker on it? It might be one more piece of ammo for you.

VA only requires trailers with brakes to be inspected. I saw in one of the pics that the trailer had brake lines so it would imply it needed to be inspected. Not sure what they inspect besides tires, lights and brakes.

Why not just go after every person that put this thing in salt water ever!!! That's the main cause for failure!!!!

I agree, its scary that this was sold without being noticed. With that said, why is the manufacture responsible for neglected, and or misuse of said trailer???

If that's true, There are some drug companies that should be sued!!!
