This has been going on for a season and a half finally fixed. A little info before I start this story the port tach was replaced before I owned it with a used tach with twice as many hours on it as the Sea Ray logo tach on the starboard.Went through all the testing with a volt ohm meter never could nail it down all readings were spot on. At the end of last season found out I had a bad intake valve and was hoping that was part of the problem but it wasn't. Everything would be fine up to 2k RPM after that if you had the tachs reading 3,200 RPM my cruising speed the sync gauge would be buried to starboard . Purchased a new tach this spring and installed it on the port side this didn't change anything. I tied both tachs to the port engine hoping to see a difference in one of the tachs which it didn't. I have never heard of a tach reading high but in the end that is what was going on. Put the old used tach form the port side that I replaced with the new one and put it on the starboard engine and everything is back to normal. So in the end my starboard tach at 2000 RPM would be fine but at 3200 RPM would read 3600 RPM if in sync. I know there is a way to to calibrate the tach but this problem wasn't linear over the whole reading of the gauge.
