I figured I'd make a thread about my tabs. Seems when the PO had the transom done he had someone completely incompetent install the tabs. The were out over an inch to being equal distance from the sides of the hull, and also installed level. Duh! once deployed, only the edge would hit the water.
We pulled them off yesterday, it appears they used a tube of sikaflex each. Needed to use a heat gun to soften it up enough to remove from the hull.
I then hopped in to remove the lines. I immediately shook my head and cursed. Both lines were kinked at the ferrule fitting. I'm surprised they even worked at all. Sorry no pics.
Once we got te actuators off, we discovered why the reservoir was empty, both fittings were cross threaded into the actuator, tearing up the plastic threads.
So we didn't get the tabs reinstalled, but we did get the new mounting holes drilled and the old holes filled with West Systems thickened epoxy. The self mixing caulking tube system works great!!
Thanks to Tom, aka Tabman for all the help and advice.
