I forgot about this issue of mine all season but it came up this afternoon so I am asking now:

I own a 2002 240DA. For the small round table that is meant to me installed on the deck, I think I am missing a piece. I have the "L" shaped stand, but I seem to be missing a piece that connects this "L" shaped stand to the table itself.

Does anyone have a pic of their table in use. I am fairly certain this same design was used in larger Sundancers as well. I suppose I could ask another Sundancer owner at my marina (there are many), but it is somewhat of a strange question to ask someone as they are enjoying their boating day.

Ed,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Here are photos of the parts that I took in the workshop last winter showing the hardware as it was being attached to the table I built.

The table you made is beautiful....I've got some Ipe left over from one of our recent projects, and I'm thinking about making a similar table with it. I'm wondering where do you store that table on the boat when it is not in use, and how much does the little sucker weigh? I'm guessing that Ipe and Teak weigh close to the same. It's very nice..

Mike,

I think Ipe is slightly heavier than teak. I know it is certainly more brittle. The table stays up most of time. The nice thing about the upside J leg is that when the clamp is loosened the table will rotate so that it is vertical. That makes enough space for doing things like getting the camper sides on and off. When we need floor space, it gets stored in the cave (the aft berth).

The grate is made by half lapping the cross pieces. You really need to be very fussy with your measurement, setup and cutting. Tolerance creep catches up with you awfully fast with this type of construction. The sticks have to have a square cross section where the width/height of the cross section equals the pitch of the grate, otherwise you will lose your mind trying to keep the orientation straight when making the cuts. In short, use lots of scrap for testing!

Post some pix when you are done.

It appears I am missing the "clamp" piece that slides over the L shaped post. However, the bottom of my factory table has the hole to accept some sort of other pole. Do they offer the clamp piece with a male extension?

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of building our table slightly smaller, and and alot simpler. My general plan is to biscuit the Ipe together and do a mitered picture frame. I've got three young kids, run a small company, and my shop is small and crowded. At best it will be a winter project, but I will post pics when complete. I'm also thinking about milling some Ipe and making new covers for the cockpit sink and cooler. We'll see if I ever get that far.....
