I am going to install a flush mount combination grill / table mount in the corner of the swim platform opposite side of the swim ladder. The platform is approximately 9 inches thick and has no access from below. I am assuming its hollow but dont want to pic a location and start drilling until I know more about the structure inside. I want to put the mount in the corner nearest in the picture (under the green water gun).
Are structural diagrams available anywhere? Thanks in advance. BTW 2007 230 Select.

This is just a suggestion -- consider mounting the base under the ladder hatch. It keeps the platform looking clean and you can be reasonably sure it's a safe place to mount since the ladder is screwed in there. The mounting screws are not that long (3/4" if I recall, maybe shorter).

I mounted on the platform on my 240SD and was never happy with the look - much happier now that it's hidden on my 280DA.

Here's what it looked like on my SD:

I have read all of the posts re: the swim ladder location. This was my first choice until we actually grilled on the boat with a mobile small grill from camping. The kids were in and out of the boat 10 times while I was grilling. They were using the ladder, meanwhile I sat on the opposite corner making dinner. I want to put it in the very corner of the platform. I realize it may not be the most attractive location, but the best for our use.

I hear ya....function and practicality should come first. You can see in my previous post that I did the same thing and that was out of practicality. Just a matter of preference.

I think you'd be safe mounting in the area you mentioned. The screws are not that long and I couldn't see any obstructions when I looked at your boat's manual at SeaRay.com.

I am going to attempt the platform install this weekend, my platform is integrated into the hull. Even though the platform is above water it is a wet location. The surface mount for my grill looks similar to the one in the pic above. How or what do I use to make the seven screw holes in the platform water tight? I am going to make a retaining plate for below the platform but don't know what type of sealant?? Any help is appreciated.

You can use any type of waterproof silicon sealant for the holes. Unfortunately I don't have a brand off the top of my head though. I watched the Marine Max tech install the base on my current boat and he used a clear silicon to fill the screw holes. He just squirted a big glob directly in the hole then screwed in the screws....pretty simple.

Post some pics when you get it finished.

Thanks, I was considering these, but didnt know if I could find them in stainless. I am waiting for ups to deliver the base so that I can size the hardware. What sizes do the toggles come in? Do the result in a flush mount, so the base will be stable? Thanks for the advice.
