I purchased a 2017 Sea Ray 19SPX I/O with a 4.3L Mercruiser this year. I'm preparing to winterize it and I'm trying to find out if the engine came with synthetic oil or regular oil. The literature that came from with the boat indicates what type of synthetic oil to use if you're using synthetic, and what type of regular oil to use if you're using regular oil, but it doesn't say what it came with. The dealer isn't sure. 'Any idea what kind of oil comes in new Searay boats these days?

Honestly, I'm not sure, either. But what was in there has no impact on what you put back in. Unless you have an ECT engine, then use the synthetic/synthetic blend.

Yea, what Dennis said... use what you want from here out

Great, thanks! I didn't know if it was more critical with a new marine engine. New boats are too expensive to make a mistake.

Mobile one is about $22 for a big jug at WM. That seems pretty cheap to me.
There is no universal standard for synthetic blend. It can be 1% synthetic and still make the claim. As inexpensive as full syn is, it is an easy choice for me.

It should have had Merc branded oil which means it likely was a 20w40 synthetic blend.
use Mobil 15w50 or any of the big three 15w40 (Delvac, Delo, rotella) and you will be fine.

I changed ir on June for my 185 BR 91´ and the official sevice said me that all with syntethic.

Check the warranty before you switch to non-Merc/Quicksilver oil. I know mine stated that using anything but those two would void the warranty. Now THAT could be an expensive mistake.
