What is your thought on these? I think it would be nothing more than a novelty, but I think it would look pretty cool. Has anyone installed lights under their swim deck?

Tons of us have. I love mine. They bring so much sea life to the boat that it's mind boggling. Even if only in fresh water, they illuminate the night and make the total experience more beautiful.

I agree with the hesitation. We were sure this was one options with little or no use to us. Boy were we fooled. There is not a night that goes by when we are cruising that we do not have them on! We even keep em on at times at the docks just to have a back ground light. But, what happens is all this fish are attrached to them and the action is great to watch for young and old. Sounds geeky sure but, it beats the evining news.

OK, follow up question... Are the lights facing straight down into the water or are they shining backward under the water line?

If you have trim tabs, try these. They hook up to your tabs and then can be pointed at different angles...

Coolest thing I added to the boat to date! Tons of fish-absolute feeding frenzy every night, plus it looks cool. These are the flush mount LED lights that we went with; these are the weaker strength lights available and they provide lots of light - all three lights were under $900.

The lights look incredible. I was thinking everyone was going to talk me out of them (like my wife) instead, you guys are getting me deeper in trouble. I knew I liked you guys! Did you istall them yourself or did you have them put in?

I like the idea but what about bug attraction. My stern light attracts more bugs than I desire. The cockpit lights bring them even closer. That is my only hesitation.

I will say seeing the white frothy wash of the back of a boat lit up at night is simply awesome.

Overextended, what brand lights and model are they? Being flushmount I'm guessing the Abyss? SB

Illegal. Regulations are quite clear as to what lights must be displayed when running or at anchor. Additionally, blue lights are restricted by federal law to law enforcement vessels. Using them when not at the dock is illegal and a hazard to navigation. Too bad the video didn't end with a Coast Guard boarding. Stupid bastards,

Best regards,
Frank

I just don't get the "new boaters" and the feeling they can put light bars and any other "light decoration" on running boats. This stuff causes accidents and kills people.

So let this be an example of what you do not want to do  Thanks Frank, I just saw the video and thought I would share did not think about the legality of it.

Yes, guns don't kill people, lights kill people. Settle down there shooter.

Before you spout off, you should go look up and read some of the causes of boating fatalities at night over the last few years. Although alcohol is always up there, improper lighting is up there too... Blinding fellow boaters is just not a nice thing to do.

But you did give me a good idea... maybe we should just take a gun and shoot out the lights! This is Virginia after all.

Damn. Now I know what to do with all of those old flares for the flare gun. Sort of a double play. Knock out the offending lights with lights!

Wes,
Safe boating doesn't just happen. You have to think of everything, because if you don't Mr. Murphy most certainly will.

Best regards,
