Here are the pics for the swim platform extension I am making for a friends 36sb.The reasoning behind it, was to allow more room to acces the entryway, with the dinghy mounted on the davit system, we are also constructing. The inlay pieces are going to be spanish cedar.I went to see them tonight, and they are absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to see it all come together. Hopefully before the end of the week. The homemade Weaver "style" mounts, I posted pictures of earlier, will go on the 2nd , and 3rd crossmember, close to the transom.

VERY nice work. How do you calculate the angle of the support brackets? Is the fiberglass you are bolting to there strong enough to hold the load of dingy? I wonder if you should run number 2 and 4 bracket down to the colored part of the hull or would that put it below the waterline? The new 370DA has a similar option, but not as deep.

THere are 1/2 inch thick, 6x4 inch backing plates behind each mounting point, and the hull is pretty thick and beefy. I purposely did not want to put any more holes below the water line.It is very solid. I also wanted to try and keep it sleek and compact.I spaced the lower suport bars as much as I could. If you look closely in the 4th photo, you can see where the strut rod goes right down to the rub rail, around the contour of the hull, with the mount being spaced out by the attaching block, in order to get as much of an angle as I could.I looked at alot of the factory mounted fiberglass extensions, and they only mounted to the hull in a 5-6" verticle distance. The dinghy is only 150# or so, so that won't be a problem.

Although I own a fire water resto. co. now.. I was a machinist/toolmaker for 25 years. That swimdeck ext. is a sweet high-zoot piece indeed!! clean even welds, beautifully engineered. Great job !

that is a beautiful job but wouldn't it have been easier and cheaper to buy one from Swim Platforms, Inc?

The 390 now comes with the added platform.......I would highly recommend....Looks great...A new platform is about $8,500.00

Wait till you see it with the spanish cedar inlay, Besides, anyone could just buy one.The owner and I are both a little touched:smt043with our "projects" , and we also beat the cost of the cookie cutter platform extension by a considerable margin:smt038 Thanks for the compliments everyone, I'' post finished pictures this weekend.

Looks real good.

Very nice job. Great fabrication. I agree that you can buy one and install it but there is great satisfaction in building your own.
