Does anyone know what length brackets I would need to replace my swim platform brackets? I have an '85 Sundancer 260, original swim platform with teak inserts. I noticed one of mine is cracked at the bend :(

Thanks!

Take it off and have one made or find someone who welds. Most anyone who does stainless steel pipe work would fabricate one. Do what I did, I got a new platform. The core material was rotten in the platform and for a good price I got a bigger platform.

Take it off and take it to any fabrication shop that makes rails etc, should cost about $45 for a new one. They will need the old one so that they can get the angles on the bracket correct.

Heathery, I got it from SwimPlatforms.com The price was well worth it and it did take longer than the 6 hours they stated, but if I had all the man power and tools there it could have been 6 hours.

I believe my engine compartment is about the same size as your '86 260 Sundancer heathery1215, but with the twin V6's there isn't much room to get to anything in there. I spend most of my time laying on the deck hanging upside down in there to work on anything - should make tearing the top end of my Starboard engine *interesting* to say the least. I probably would have more space except there is a large replacement water heater / heat exchanger along with 2 auxiliary 40 gallon fuel tanks that are all taking up a lot of potential "working space".

Sounds interesting to say the least! I only have 1 5.7L so i'm good for space. I can stand in it, pretty ,uch walk around the engine. Every now and again I'll end up up side down but that's mostly when I'm trying to get a better look at something :) My Crownline was a 250cr with a 454 in it. NO space at all, lucky that the hatch closed!!! She was a very heavy boat! If you could get her up on plane she did haul a$$ tho.

I'm still wondering if anyone has the measurements for the platform brackets? My Step Dad said he can make them for me if I knew the length etc. I can go get them but it would be ab hour to the boat, hour to Mom's then an hour back to put the new ones on and an hour home again!!!!! Gotta do it asap because the guy stored behind me is ready to splash and i'm in the way!!!!

Ugh!

UPDATE:
Got a 6' length of stainless steal tubing from West Marine, my buddy cut it, hammered the ends flat, bent them to match the current brackets and drilled holes for the screws!!! He finished them both in about 10 minutes, total cost $50. I'm really happy with them, the platform has never felt so sturdy! Not to mention that was the last thing to be completed so that I could splash yesterday! Let the fun begin!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
