Has anyone noticed or had cracks in their swim platform on the new 185 or 195 sport?

My warranty was up the end of July and did we ever get chance to use it on many occasions. This boat has had many gelcoat repairs. The underside of our swim deck started cracking and creaking after the first time out. On the next six or so trips back for other warranty repairs they would take pictures for their files of the underside but never repaired it. Now I have cracks on the finished side and they seem to be spreading. Am I screwed at this point? I would think the pictures would be proof it was an existing problem???

My dealer was ok to work with under warranty but I really am beyond tired of dealing with these issues. At least I can say this has been a learning experience and my next boat wont be delivered with this many issues cause I plan to do a much better inspection of course I will probably miss some.

Sounds like your dealer has already been working with you by documenting it for Sea Ray if they need it. I'm sure they are going to work with you in the future.

I have not seen any cracking on the swim platform on my 185. I haven't had any issues with the hull, though I have heard some of the 185/195 hulls experienced some stress fracturing along the keel. the swim platforms made for these models seem fairly sturdy. I don't believe entering and exiting the water, ie. normal use, would cause the swim platform to fracture. It sounds like a manufacturing problem. Did Sea Ray replace or repair the problem on your boat?

No answer yet.

Most of the cracks on the top side are around the swim ladder and were the deck snugs up against the boat. There are probaly 30 or so cracks under the deck (rough gelcoat) that have been documented by the dealership. I really believe someting is wrong with it because it creaks nasty bad and has since day one.

I have no proof but wonder how they fixed my hull blister and keel cracks? Looks like they might of jacked the boat in the back by using the platform.

Wouldn't that be something. Did you check around the transom eyebolts for fractures? When the boat was lifted hopefully it was done from the eyes and not the platform. The eyebolts are made for that sort of thing, but not for extended periods of suspension. Hopefully, straps were used to support the hull instead.

Tanner,

I was thinking, did you ever wonder if the boat was possibly damaged during transport and the dealer never disclosed it? I know this problem can be "what if'd" all day long. I'll be interested to know what SR did to correct your problem.
