Wondering if anyone has one if the newer, small fuel injected Suzuki's.

Trying to decide if I should jump on a 15hp I found...a year old and barely used. There isn't much detailed info online and unlike Merc, can't find a manual online.

One of the videos on YouTube I found, says you have to drain the fuel before transporting. I've never heard that before...

Trying to figure that out and how the "tilt lock" differs from Mercury...

You are like a small outboard hoarder :)… look at the tilt closely on the Suzuki…. the mechanism on the Mercury 9.9 is a joke… I can’t believe it is in production today still

Even though I have no personal experience with this specific motor, I’d go for the fuel injection option. I had a fuel injected Suzuki atv and it was far superior to their carb offerings. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in it.

I've got half a season on a Suzuki 25 now. It's been great so far. Zero hiccups. The fuel injection is a bit of a game changer. But so too is electric start I guess...:)

What's sad @Blueone is the newer Merc 9.9 I picked up, hasn't made it up to the boat yet!

I find myself wanting to go WOT on the way back from the beach with the family...and it still isn't quick enough...so good excuse to grab a 15hp.

Thanks @Stee6043. I have electric start on this '06 9.9, but haven't used it yet (may need to bring a battery up this weekend and try it out). I picked up a newer manual start only 9.9 to save some weight...and here I go looking at adding weight!

My only concern with fuel injection is adding all those sensors back in...but in searching last night I haven't found many, if any issues with them.

I have a cool white 20 HP version that I upgraded from a 15 Merc. I love the Suzuki. One thing is I feel it has a little more vibration than a Yamaha at just above idle. This is likely exacerbated by the fact that I have an aluminum hull dinghy and a special mount for my Sea Wise dinghy system. The fuel injection system is pretty amazing since the motor does not require a battery.

I do kind of miss the throttle / shifter on the tiller that the Mercury had, but thats about the only flaw I can find. The tilt lock is a HUGE improvement.

Great feedback, thanks Ray!

I'm a big fan of the Merc integrated shifter but glad to hear the tilt lock is improved! Wish it were the cool white.... but it's black.

Picked it up today...not a bad buy with under 5hrs on the 2020 motor...

Is this 9.9 Suzuki the one that you can change a few parts and double the hp?

It is...edited my post to add a pic showing it's the 15hp. Not worth it to me for the extra 5hp. But, if you bought the 9.9....just change out the ECU and remove/replace the intake restrictor plate.

It's 327cm vs the 203cm of the Merc 9.9 I have.

That’s funny. I scrolled up and saw the 15hp photo and was like oops wrong engine and deleted my post. :)

It's all good. But really - you want a Merc 9.9 :)! I'll be selling both a manual start and electric start eventually....I think....I got a free stand with this one so who knows!

Are You willing to ship one of those motors?

That'd be a PITA as I don't have the boxes for any of them. And I'm sure it'd be $$$. But yes, for the right price anything is doable. When I get ready to sell I will shoot you a PM....crazy as hard as these are to find, I now have 3!
