Suspected Credit Card Fraud from MM

As a retired security "expert", call your bank as ask if they are doing an investigation in conjuntion with the police agency where MM is located, or do they want you to do that. Do not do it yourself.

All banks/credit cards I've ever delt with is "We will be investigating" when in reality it's cheaper for the banks to write it off as a lose then to pay for an real investigation.

New member here, but thought this was a worth a response.
As a business, I'd think the company would get involved in helping you resolve the situation to clear their reputation, at the very least to be sure their own employee was not at fault. This company has lots of stores in the area. I'd be willing to bet one is a headquarters of sorts. The store in Bricktown is pretty big. Try calling them & asking for a region manager.

Well. . . this very much could be a credit / debit card problem.

How they choose to deal with the situation will be very telling. I am not dealing with either the MM you are dealing with, or the same banks. So far. . the situation is being handled smoothly and I am not out any money.

In the case of your bank and debit card. . . Your bank should remove false charges off of your card (can you confirm online?). The amount of investigating (or the decision to simply writeoff the debt) should be decided by the bank. Investigating is definately not your problem.

Well right now they are in investigative mode, which takes 7-10 business days at which point I will receive a letter by mail to let me know if I will be getting my money back.

So it will be that long before I know anything from the bank, I have confirmed they plan to screw me on some overdraft charges for charges I actually made after the account was overdrawn by the thief, but I'm still fighting them on that as well. They say because they called my house and left a message that they notified me not to use my card anymore, but I'm not home all day I was at work and mondays I go from work to play poker. What really blows me away is I went by the bank and deposited and check and they didn't say one word to me about it, but when I went to pay my bill at where I play poker I soon learned something was up when my card was declined.

Anyways thanks for the input and everything, I'll have to make a decision on whether to contact MM or not about it.

Never the less its fraud, and you are protected from all acts of fraud. Other than some possible frustrating inconveinance it will be worked out.

So far .. . .in that case. . .you bank is failing the "test". They should not have "notified you to not use the card". They should have "notified you to not use the card because they cancelled it

BTW: When I travel, I carry two credit cards for this very reason.

This is the actions they took:

1. Multiple charges large and small from NJ/NY
2. Fruad Dept. Froze card
3. Fruad Dept. Called home left message
4. When I called Fruad Dept. and said yes those are not my charges, they cancelled the card and then said now call customer service to dispute the charges and get a new card.
5. Call customer service they first try to transfer me to the fraud department then tell me they can not do anything about any of the "Pending" charges until they post, so basically they have to take my money before they can give it back. So they about $1500 in charges that are not mine to overdraw the account by about $400 and then allow about 15 charges to post (from friday and over the weekend) to post and rack up 5 (that's the most they will ever charge) Overdraft fee's at $32 each.

When I complain about this they tell me that the over draft charges are because my account is overdrawn and are not charges on the fraudulant charges and that I will have to pay the over draft charges on my charges but not the ones on the fruadulant charges (accept I have to pay them up front first while they "Investigate") but that I will get my money back if they find it was fraud and that will be determined in 7 to 10 business days.

Makes you want to punch someone in the throat.

Metro Pass, McDonalds, a Drug store ($330 there).......

...... I was at work and mondays I go from work to play poker.............. when I went to pay my bill at where I play poker I soon learned something was up when my card was declined......

MMMM.....I'm putting this together......First you buy a life vest, then go play poker. Ok, a few bad hands, next thing you know the car keys are on the table(that explains the bus pass), then hungry before the bus comes(Mickey D's was right there). Now with ketchup in the corner of your mouth you realize the Admiral's going to kill you because you always drive her Minivan, (just in case the "boys" wanna run to a strip joint) and you've lost that. So now you need some anti-depressants (Drug store)....oooh and an inflatable raft and cooler full of beer( I don't know, how else do you spend $300 bones at a drug store?)

Sorry, sounds like it's beginning to sort out. Just trying to bring some levity to this.

Relax. Go down to your bank branch and sit down with your rep. You will find that they will probably issue you a tempoary credit and by the end of the month clear all the overdraft fees.

And dont forget to get your lollipop.lol

You might be right, but I must of been really drunk because I live in Florida and these charges were in NJ and NY so how did I get there? Oh and we don't own a minivan :)

I was trying my best to speculate conservatively....man you do have some explaining to do......

I really hope it's resolved quickly.

. . . .which is why I never use a debit card.

I have never understood the purpose of a debit card. A simple foul up screws up your entire checking account. I use my credit card for everything. . .I charge bubble gum on the card if they let me.
