"support" removal

2000 340 DA 7.4 MPIs. There is a 2x4 "support" between the motors with the coolant bottles mounted on either side. It blocks access to the bilge pumps. Is this really necessary? I had to remove it to replace the aft pump. Do I need to put it back in? Doesn't seem to do much.

I had to remove mine all the time. I also would screw it back down when done. Not sure if needed but only took a few minutes to replace.
