Commentary from a friend who deals with servicing commercial construction equipment. Routine filters and oil are getting harder to get.

Local CAT shop had 3 almost new machines that were in for routine service. Filters on backorder. Have been sitting for a while.

He gets oil in bulk, a truck comes and pumps it into storage in their shop. Supplier has not had bulk oil.

Might be worth getting the filters and oil that you anticipate needing this summer.

I just had CAT in the shop today …. They had a last run of fabricated front engine brackets fail in the field from cracked welds. I supply the casting replacement for production and all of my container shipment of castings are bent out of tolerance…. So there are stories/reasons behind the shortages out there

You guys were giving me shit when I bought oil and filters earlier this year. Price was a little higher, but I was more worried about just getting the items in the qty I needed...

Glad I got it when I did

I have plenty of filters, oil and fuel. Just still haven't seen any Rotella.

Advance Auto Parts...showing $21.99/gal for Rotella T1 SAE 40, but I got free shipping.

I tried Tractor Supply, but their online ordering is a PITA.

I saw cases of Rotella stacked in the window of my local Napa auto parts store last night.

I am in the car business and do thousands of gallons of oil a week. Supplies are tight and getting tighter. Base oil not an issue it is the additives. As far as filters yes supply chain is a mess due to all the paper filter manufactures shifted their business to producing paper masks for covid years back. Now that has affected the supply of paper for the oil and fuel filters. Mopar was the first to sound the alarm 3 months ago that a shortage was coming. Now Ford has followed suit. We bought pallets of filters to have supply and now it is paying off.

I'm now due for the 15,000 mile oil change on the 6.7 Cummins, and the filters that I had in my wish list are now "We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Amazing what can happen in two weeks.

I had a heck of a time getting some filters and Valvoline diesel oil for my Cummins. Had to go all over and order it in from all over the state.

Guess I luck to my Rotella last week at Sam's>

Great news! The merc fuel filters I ordered from BDN last October are finally in

I just ordered a Merc outboard and I bet that will be here first

Was in Walmart the other day to grab another fire extinguisher and took a walk down the oil aisle, pretty much restocked now. They are now carrying a 3 gallon “Bota Box”. Not giving it much shelf space though. Haven’t seen that before.
