Hi all,

First of all thanks Chuck and capz for their answer on a previous post.

Here are my projects for the next few weeks:

1) Install a Garmin 535s on the dash
2) Install Infinity 6100m speakers on the ski tower.
3) Replace the old clarion cmd4 with a newer cmd5 that should allow me to control the ipod from the remote and also read and play wma and mp3 from recordable cd (~100 songs per cd).

I am trying to do some homework to be prepared for a smooth installation.

As far as the Garmin I think I have it pretty figured it out. I like the install illustrated on a previous post using RAM ball mounts to the windshield post. It is unclear if I will need to drill a hole to route the cables or if I can simply go through a seam in the dasboard cover. We will see at the time of install.

As far as the sounder transducer I will have to purchase the Airmar p79 for garmin. It seems to be the cleanest solution. I was hoping to be able to use the transducer that comes with the 435s. Too bad.

As far as the speakers I have to sort out several issues.

First is where and how to install the amplifier. It is a 2 channel 150w rms 450w peak. I am thinking to install it on the back of the dashboard compartment or as Chuck did on the front part of the starboard cabin.

One of the first issues to sort out is power supply. Can I tap onto the fuse box or should I run a separate 8 gauge wire for pos and neg to the batteries? If the second option is best, should I tap directly to the battery ot should I go to the battery switch?

The last issue is passing and securing all of these wires behind the starbooard panel. Ideally I would like to remove the panel, do the wiring and reinstall. I would really appreciate some guidance on how to remove the side panel without damaging it.

I appreciate anybody's help and please feel free to chime in with suggestions or criticism.

Now it is time to leave the computer alone, stop thinking and go and enjoy the boat and lake. Be back tonight.

Thanks everybody!

Johnny

Check my post out here: http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?p=106199#post106199. If I can remember to come back to this thread or if you remind me I'll let you know how the final outcome sounds. I did mount a 450W Memphis marine amp underneath the helm where the factory clarion amp was located. I run the front 2 channels for the mids/highs and the rear 2 channels for the subs. The subs are (2) dual voice coil 10" mephis marine. I was advised to run 4 guage wire so that's what I did for power and ground coming directly from the batter with an inline fuse.
