I'm looking at a 22 - 24 ft Sundeck and have heard that the standard 260 hp engine may not be enough to pull a 200 lb skier. Looking for advice. Do we need a 300 hp engine? Thanks.

The standard engine should pull you up. You may plow a bit, depending on if you are combo or slalom, boat loaded or unloaded, real experience skier or learning. But when it comes to skiing and HP more is always better. You can usually improve pull by adding trim tabs or a prop with more blades if necessary.

I had no issues skiing with my 240DA with 5.0 260HP with BIII. Sundeck is lighter, so it's even easier for the engine, unless you plan on loading 10 spectators.

Is 260 HP enough to ski behind... absolutely. Is skiing behind 300HP more enjoyable and easier... absolutely. How much power can you afford is the real question.

i have the 260 hp in my 09 240 sundeck and had 8 people in the boat and can pull any skier or wake person up. i had doubts when i bought it,but didnt want to spend $4000 more for 40 more hp. how often would you have a load like that to justify spending more for hp?

I have no problem pulling boarders or skiers in my 07 240 SD with the 5.0/B3 and a boat full of people. The wakeboard tower certainly helps;-0

I have the 220 SD with the 260 hp. If I have 8-10 folks on board and full tank of gas, it is tough to get a big skier up. But I can pull an elephant up with 4-6 folks on board.
