I'm looking at buying an '04 280 with twin MerCruiser 5s. The engines do not have the heat exchangers that some do. How important she these intermediate exchangers on a boat that has lived in SoCal ? Thanks

When you say heat exchanger are you referring to having a closed water cooling system? If so such a system is very desirable in a boat that is used in salt water as it will reduce engine corrosion. In fresh water it's really not necessary.
