Hi. Is there a specific 240 thread? Thanks.

Hello Jack,
Did you have a specific question about 240s? I used to own one.

Hi Jester:

I saw your thread referencing your a past owner of a 240. I just purchased a 1999 240 Sundancer, 24ft. Can you share with me the proper position(s) of the battery selector switch when: boat parked on my trailer in my driveway, position of switch when I want to charge my battery using ac from my home, position when I start the boat and finally position when I'm on the lake with the boat off.

Thank you!
Kevin

Hi kevin. Just saw your question , I'm sure you ve sorted it but, after a few Years and trial an error, when going around the Norfolk broads in my 240, heres my take. Set to off when charging with ac. Set to one to strart, set to two when moored overnight and set to both when going along .

Has anyone ever added a genset?

Being serious here... it would be less expensive to sell the 240DA and buy a 260DA of the same era that already has a genny. That would be a gigantic effort for a small boat where a genny was never even an option.

Yes - a long time ago there were 2 members that added gennys to 240DAs - I believe papogator and georgia sea dawg IIRC - They used the small westerbeke 3.0 BPMG and had to remove the vacuflush tank

We have a 240DA page. But, it is very dormant. I read almost the entire thread over the course of a couple weeks. There is a lot of good information. But, being the "baby" of the cruisers, there aren't many of us. You can PM me if you have any specific questions. I have only had mine for one season. But, we lived on it almost every weekend/long weekend last year. We even chose to stay on it when offered a condo while at Lake of the Ozarks.
