Sunbrella fabric instead of vinyl for outside seats

Gary,

Did you ever do anything with the bridge seating yet? I really like the look of the straight bench seat, but I was wondering how you would handle the stripes around the curved bridge seating.

The boat now needs a custom wood table in the cockpit...

Gary,

Now that I have the custom wood table, I think I am going to copy your seat.

I looked at all the different colors, styles, etc. but I didn't like any as much as yours. I just got an estimate to do the bench and the bridge seating (not the helm chairs). I think I am going to tell them to do it. However, I wanted to hear from you on a few things...

Do you have any regrets about doing it?

Did you extend the backrest on the starboard side?

Why is the hinge on the backrest? Does the backrest need to hinge up?

Sorry to copy you, but think of it as a great compliment. :smt001

This was good year for the boat so far, new bootstripe, new carpet, new cockpit table, now the seats and I am also getting a new EZ2CY enclosure.

No

Don't do that. There is some curvature on the transom there and the hinge will bind when you try and mount it if you extend it. Make the new one the same as the old one.

Why is the hinge on the backrest? Does the backrest need to hinge up?

It's just a solid way of mounting it and hide the mounting screws.

Thanks,

I did notice the slight curvature, I will look at it again this weekend. I wonder if I stopped the hinge a little short, and just left the backrest hang out. It just looks a little funny to me with the backrest being shorter than the bench. But, I guess the pillows hide it.

I am thinking I may need to put a wood table upstairs now too.

I don't think I'll ever be able to out do your boat, especially in the AV or electronics areas. But I think I will start working on that area too, maybe next year... But I have it easy, someone already did all the research for me.
