Sunbrella fabric instead of vinyl for outside seats

Gary, That looks awesome, now I have to hide that pic from my wife.

Nicely done Gary. Much more inviting than white vinyl and very, very classy. I think that bridge lounge would look great if it were matching.

Very nice looking! Let us know how you like for functionality (cleaning, suntan lotion, etc) after a few months.

Enjoy! Very pretty.

Here's a picture....

My wife is happy but as I look as this thing, it gives the boat more of a yacht look instead of a fish guts all over the cockpit look... hmm... I've been manipulated.

(Note the 55 foot Viking behind me and his electrical cord drooping in the water. I am going to go unplug him...)

Looks great! I like the choice of colors.

That's so much better than the boat you got the idea from. Those seat cover's looked like piano keys. Great job. Very nice!

Looks GREAT!!!!!

How are they to sit on after sitting in the sun?

Do you know what kind of foam they used?

I like it. That looks really nice and breaks up the ALL white. I have that problem on mine. I love the all white seats, compared to the tan I had on Nehalennia II but I need some color.

Looks really good !!!

Well done! But ya better sew some name tags on those pillows in case one of us finds one in the bay!

I know I told you this at BIH, but I just looked again, I REALLY like that look!

Just curious what diesel soot does to it? I'm sure you can't tell on the black as opposed to the white but I was just curious?

It does make the cockpit look great, this is definately getting done when I find my perfect 48.

A few comments.

The cockpit of the 480 DB does not get blown around so I'm not too worried about the pillows.

As far as the black color in the sun, I don't know how hot that will feel. I'm sure I'll hear about it though.

I don't know what kind of foam they put in but this is an experienced shop and does a lot of the work here on boats far more expensive than mine. They also put more foam in to "poof it up" from the original bench.

As far as diesel soot... I've never had any collect on my transom or anywhere... ever.. The QSM-11's are electronic and do not smoke. If there is smoke with these engines, there is a problem.

I kept skipping this thread since I didnt ever plan on changing seats out, but damn, Gary that looks good!

It's making me think about getting rid of all the vinyl in the boat and doing that over the winter.

pffft...you kicked it in to make a point:smt001

Gary,

Now that you've had some time with the sunbrella cover, how has it held up? We are looking at doing a recover of our seat and I like the look. Thanks!

It looks the same... it's only been a few months though. After the Urbanna Oyster Festival the bench will come out of the boat and live in the garage for the winter while we use the boat for fishing and crap up the cockpit.

I saw a 56 Sedan Bridge that used the same striped fabric but didn't put the solid black border around it. I don't think it looked all that nice...

The black does get hot in the sun. Something to think of... you may want to go with cooler colors. The black also shows dog hair and my wife's bad dandruff problem.

One option I've seen on some of the newer boats is to have the insets quilted instead of having a print stripe. That looks very nice...

:smt043LOL.. OMG.. First it was mid-life hair growth with constant shaving.. Now its a dandruff problem... I hope your wife doesnt read these posts. If she does your next meal will be hot tongue and cold shoulder.

My Sunbrella cockpit cover sheds small fragments of something that makes a real mess. Have you experienced this with your material yet?
